I've owned an ariens 28 sho for 10 years and have had 0 problems aside from drive lever cable eyelet breaking. Just replaced cable which was easy and cheap cost for replacement.
I live in VA so it's seen as much as 21" of snow and had 0 problems. I have a long driveway and large parking area on a hillside otherwise I wouldn't have a snowblower.
If you're going to spend 2k get a nice ariens carb unit. Avoid efi.
