Free up space before signing up for a new plan, especially if you've upgraded from a Pixel 5 or earlier. I went from 181 GB used to 57 GB. Instead of signing up for the 2 TB as planned, I'm going from the 200 GB to 100 GB.

Following the instructions, 1) canceled my existing annual Google One (had 11 more months), 2) deleted the service, 3) resigned up for the 2TB for $49.99 for one year.
Already got my prorated refund back automatically after deleting the service.
