Certain things I don't have an issue getting the "used like new" items if they are a huge discount but electronics especially computer & security stuff are things I stay away from. Probably just over cautious but there are way too many dirt bags out there

[Edit: I have the 2K C210 models. Better night vision, better resolution. This deal https://slickdeals.net/f/19017742] I have 2 purchased in New condition that work pretty well outdoors under a porch & overhang for 3+ years. Only issue is their return to home position gets off place routinely. Not by a lot but enough that you'll want to adjust its viewpoint if you're particular. In windy conditions I turn off tracking mode because it will go bonkers with flags or dangling things or cobwebs. Occasionally I'll have to give it a hard reset by unplugging it once every 3-5 months. I like both this model and the stationary model. Have 2 of each. I use the outdoor stationary models where I don't have protection from the elements.

Like others, I prefer new condition when buying electronics that have access to sensitive information or such.

IMHO, I'd stick to one brand so you don't need multiple apps. Stuff may work with the Assistant Big Brother things, but it's just simple to have a cleaner less heavy app to run these devices, lights and plugs. I prefer the Tapo Kasa app over my Alexa app. And I definitely don't want to have to use multiple apps for devices in each room or area of the house. Alexa / Assistants can use group commands, but when you want to do something simple, I wouldn't think having a hodge podge of products would be ideal. Unless you're sticking to that brand you linked for all your devices. Just seemed generic is all.

Depending on your need that might be fine, I particularly like Tapo, because they have a great app, and the built-in AI assists with identifying people, crossing line or pets, very helpful. Additionally, it's compatible with their other things like their local recording hub

Thanks for the input. Looks like the Tapo app will also integrate somewhat with my Kasa smart plugs. Could use a couple of basic cameras, so I'm going to order at least a couple.

Amazon product page says I paid $13 (after some discount) in Dec 2024. This model used to goes on sale every few months back then. I've purchased quite a lot of used stuff on Amazon for years since return policy is good (never needed to use it though).

TP-Link Tapo/Kasa has a large ecosystem, very inexpensive (vs. Anker Eufy), no subscription necessary and open to others systems like Alexa/Google (vs Amazon or Google Nest), and quite stable and consistent (vs Wyze which could go down any time and dying to be acquired).

I can't speak to a used one of these. I have two of them. Make sure your memory card can read and write at 100mbps at least, otherwise it will destroy your memory cards

These would not have any warranty from tp-link, I had ordered a similar two pack. one of them stopped working the first week. tp-link said they are used and have no warranty from them.
I was able to return to Amazon, replacements are working fine, it will be a year this Jan.

this person is insinuating that the previous owner can still access the camera. This is completely untrue.
