Never mind - Ask Rufus says yes, but the surface needs to be prepared. The convenience of just laying them on a cement patio floor without mortar and grout is very tempting, however they need to be oiled twice a year, which may stop me from buying. Anyone can speak on the maintenance aspect?

Someone please correct me if not, but I believe these are meant for people with existing finished/leveled surfaces. People in apartments with a boring grey deck, people looking for a platform for a bar, grill, etc. on their existing structure, etc.
if you were gonna go through all the trouble of creating and leveling a spot in the grass you'd prob want to go for something else anyway.

U could do it in grass but it doesn't feel as great.. smushy. Tried to put it on top of turf and it just doesn't feel right.

What all is entailed with "oiling" them?
I'd like to put these between a concrete patio and a hot tub...so still have to oil of they are always covered by the Jacuzzi?

On the product page - We recommend applying wood oil at least twice a year to maintain surface durability. It may last longer out of the sun, but it'll eventually rot away. I cancelled my order.
