The "ban" is only about future models from foreign manufacturers (DJI being the top consumer manufacturer - but also the most advanced). Currently all of the U.S. manufacturers have a lot of catching up to do. I have bought several DJI quads and would be surprised if anyone came close to performance in the next few years. If your worried someone might find out where you are flying or what your recording, there are easy ways to pseudo air gap.
