Better grab these while you can, nvidia is cutting production of GPUs in 2026 by 40-50% , and the 5060/5070ti are the first ones on the chopping block - they're going to use the memory to make the higher end, more expensive cards instead.
I thought so too, but I just saw a GamersNexus video about how Tech companies now have too many GPUs and don't enough enough energy & infrastructure to power and use them.

I believe this version instead because just for the last week, suddenly a lot of GPU deals popping out left and right. Just wait for another few weeks, and this will drop even more. Nvidia is decreasing prices because too many stocks, not because RAM supply.

That explains why there are so many out of stock 5070 ti models, because they have too much stock. We have one less consumer RAM manufacturer and Nvidia cutting production most likely means we will see higher prices.

Choose to be delusional. We are only in the very beginning stages of AI and likely supply chain concerns. They are most likely looking to sell cards before prices skyrocket and they know demand cannot be met in the future. Higher end cards have not received any discounts, just now are finally "in stock" at msrp. New data centers are being built worldwide, there will not be an "oversupply" of gpus for quite sometime. Whatever you see on store shelves are consumer level, not enterprise. The ones saving grace if you're looking for a gpu in the future is that there will likely be less people building new pcs or upgrading, so you may see lower demand due to unaffordability of ram or storage drives, which may cause card prices to drop a bit (if gpu manufacturing isn't cut too hard)

You got downvoted because people didn't like what you said, not because of the validity. You are correct.

Have a 3060 but don't really game much. I had planned to get back into it at 1440p and wanted to somewhat future proof.

The basic 12GB version is a much more manageable $550, is this worth ~$200 more for the added ram, etc.?

I bought a 7900XTX in order to get better memory footprint for my own needs with AI. So far I think you should start thinking about these as a solid option. The 5080 doesn't present enough of a compelling use case, and even the 9070 XT is going to be a good one to consider as the prices are depressed. That said... expect a long and cold winter at this point.

Heh, was going to say the same. How a 2-slot 12" long card can be called SFF is beyond me. People just love redefining things.

5070 ti is the best price to performance this generation. If you want to get back into gaming at 1440p, the 16gb vram will be a nice cushion for future proofing.

3060 can still be a decent card for gaming at 1080p. Maybe it can even swing 1440p with DLSS and optimized graphic settings for each game, plenty of such guides on YouTube for popular AAA games.
