Because of this deal I started trying ATT in my area and I see that it has better reception than Verizon in the areas I roam. So it might be a good deal for me. Let's see in few days.

Also if you get this plan dont forget to turn off auto renewal or you will be charged 400 bucks

This is a good price for great service, even if not quite as slick as some of their recent deals.
My one quibble with US Mobile is that they don't seem to offer anything to existing customers. I chatted with them and they were willing to let me walk rather than letting me take advantage of the last deal or offering me anything at all to stay. So switching back and forth between them and Mint or Visible or whatever seems like the best longer term option. USM is my favorite, hands down, but if something else that works well for me is considerably cheaper, I have no loyalty for corporations who show no gratitude toward me.

I've definitely had better reception with both the Verizon and T-Mobile networks than AT&T across many states and cities.

This seems like a pretty good deal. I currently have the visible+ plan. The price is great but Verizon's coverage really sucks where I live. I'm tempted to try this out as I believe this uses ATT, but I'm worried to commit for a full year and it doesn't work out.

I agree and am disappointed with US Mobile's lack of desire to keep me as an existing customer. They would rather lose a good paying customer than retain us which is a bad business decision IMO. There is a cost to acquire a customer which they don't have with existing customers but their flat refusal to give any type of discount really sucks. So I'm going to Mint with their $180 unlimited data. I agree that US Mobile has lost my loyalty, respect and referral business.

I like how they say: Free Smartwatch Plan* then you look at the terms and it says not yet supported. Is that even legal?
Tesla FSD has been doing the asterisk for years.

There's a difference in offering a low, below cost price to attract a new customer vs offering that price to an existing customer. I assume you understand why this works the way it does. Yes, if it was continuously cheap and better that would be awesome.
What you are forgetting is the value of loyalty to the Brand. Also the cost associated with Customer Acquisition which is obviously $0 for exist customers. Customer Acquisition does cost and also does loss of Brand Loyalty, which is exactly what AT&T, Verizon & T-Mobile have learned. Therefore they offer existing customers the same deal as new customers to decrease the "churn" of customers jumping from one carrier to another due to pricing. It's a shame US Mobile hasn't learned the cost and value of these items like the big 3 have. Also most customers with US Mobile I would think signup for an entire year. So not everyone's annual subscription is going to end around the holidays. Again short sighted for an MVNO not to try and retain existing customers during the holiday season with some type of savings benefit. Oh well, i guess some companies never learn.

Their business model is based on most customers not going through the hassle of switching providers
Which is a stupid business plan in these economic times. Also this costs them more in the end. Creates additional customer acquisition costs and loss of Brand Loyalty. Most companies have realized it's cheaper to keep a customer than to get them back. Well everybody except US Mobile. Pretty short sighted.

That only works when seeing all three at the same time. I'll get some email with an offer on one network. (all three are not spelled out in the same communication). I had to make myself a note of which mine is. So if I get an email, I look up mine in my notes. Have you noticed they don't send many offers for their Verizon network? So that's my easy way of knowing whatever they offer to me is not what I want. Big GrinI do not approve of their purposeful obfuscation of the networks. Not cool.
It's a Legal issue. As a multi-carrier MVNO they must use a non-copywrite way to distinguish the different services by the carriers. I agree the names are stupid and have hurt them more than helped them.

If I let my USM line expire on Dec 30 for example, would I qualify on Jan 1 or would I literally have to be a new customer.
From what I was told, you have to port in or get a new number to be considered a new customer for the discount.

I switched to US Mobile a little over a month ago and it is really good. No complaints at all and I found them on Consumer Reports as the best carrier, right now I have paid 199$ for the year and when it goes up it will still be less than 25 dollars a month. good customer service too. I could not get a decent connection in my house so I went looking and landed here. all is swell -

So my experience is you have to ask, and you might have to push past a no. It reminded me of our annual cable bill promotion fight. They don't always give you their best offer first.
I'm guessing it's also heavily rep dependent. I talked to 2. One didn't give me any retention offer and wouldn't budge on the 50% offer. The 2nd rep I talked to gave me a 3-month offer but it was only 33% off or something. This discussion also happened during my port out request, which told them I was (more) serious about leaving. I decided to just complete the port out and took a deal elsewhere.

To be fair, that's no different from any other MVNO carrier. I called mint mobile to see if I can get the 50% annual plan, and they were the same. They couldn't offer anything. We can't reasonably be angry at them. It's known that it's much more difficult for a carriers to attract new customers than to retain new ones. So the best deals will always be for new customers. The thing to do is keep swapping carriers. It's a pain but that the way to do it if you want to save money.

Others asked this too, but didn't see a replay. Does anyone know when does the deal start after paying? Is it immediate, or does it start only once you port. And how long does one get to port? We have a month left on a mint plan. This deal is obviously better than paying $360 to mint. But I don't want to lose a month of service I've prepaid for if I can help it.

I have AT&T for my main line and was traveling across the Plains states this summer and wanted some additional coverage, so I added a US Mobile Warp (Verizon) line, and it helped fill in some coverage for me and provided phone data and hotspot for when I was camping in some spots. I did still have dead spots while driving and one camping spot.

I was happy enough with them that when some of the others on my phone plan are done with their phone payments, I think I'll break up the band and move my line to US Mobile Dark Star (AT&T). With 200GB of hotspot (second 100GB is at 8Mbps), I think it'll be great for me when traveling (hotspot then continues to be 600Kbps after the 200GB).

I've also just picked up a StarLink Mini (currently $229). They offer a new $5 per month standby plan which others are saying will let do you WiFi or VOIP calling and some slow data. This seems like it'll get me better options in terms of making phone calls anywhere, texting, with some limited data options. So I probably won't do a second line any more with a separate carrier.
Starlink Wifi and Cell service is another good option for boondocking like VZ booster antenna + Starlink

For 50/50 city /rural, VZ+ATT

For 80/20 , ATT+Tmo or VZ+ GSM is good combo

Can you elaborate more on this process of "pretend calling" ?
Call them to tell them your cancelling in 30 days after your term since a new offer $180/yr, $150/yr.

They have to try to much it. at first they will low ball with $30 off, insist on equal or better offer as their competition.

if ask them without pretending to cancel, they wont offer you the best deal.

you shouldn't feel trapped. losing a stable customer cost them $500-1000 per new user.

they try to get over around with 1 yr contact, you can always get your remaining refund by emailing FCC for fair practice. its your right to challenge them

if they play promo games, so can you
