Easy-Off and Mr. Clean operate on different chemical mechanics. While the Easy-Off Oven Cleaner is a high-pH caustic (containing Sodium Hydroxide/Lye) that dissolves organic matter through saponification, the Easy-Off Kitchen Degreaser (linked) is a solvent-based cleaner.
The primary differences are:
Solvent Strength: Easy-Off uses more aggressive solvents (like Phenoxyisopropanol) to liquefy hardened, "varnished" grease that has polymerized over time.
Surfactant Load: Mr. Clean Clean Freak relies on amine oxides to lift surface tension for "everyday" messes. It's a generalist tool.
Surface Compatibility: Because Easy-Off is more aggressive, it's a specialist. You have to be more careful with reactive surfaces (like aluminum) compared to the milder, surfactant-heavy Mr. Clean formula.
Essentially, if the grease is fresh, surfactants (Mr. Clean) work fine. If the grease has chemically bonded to the surface, you need the aggressive solvents found in the Easy-Off degreaser.

The Easy Off cleaner is fantastic IMO and less half the price of this. 64 oz (2 bottles for about $5, less with S&S) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KFFMHQF

Yes, it is very strong so hard surfaces only, for sure. Don't use it on: Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Galvanized Steel, Painted Surfaces, Vinyl.

The good news is the "designed for use" list is much longer: Stainless Steel, Polished Marble, Glass, Cast Iron, Chrome, Ceramic, Formica, Vitro Ceramic, Porcelain, Terra Cotta, Concrete, Enamel, Black enamel (whatever that is), Pyrolytic enamel (self-cleaning ovens), HDPE, Acrylic, APS Polypropylene, Fiberglass, and PFC It can be used on all of that.

I just cleaned the inside of my microwave and it was amazing how much built-up gunk was there that I didn't realize. I wiped it out fully with a wet microfiber towel and it's like new. Glass is an interesting "designed for" mention. I have an fireplace insert with a window and an electric smoker with a glass window. That's next on my list to try the Easy-Off with.

I tend to go for the heavier Duty effective cleaners over ones that are safer. Usually if I'm going for a cleaner it's because I can't just wipe it off with a paper towel and some water and some dish soap in the first place.

Yeah and despite trying to assess the chemical differences, I'm not even sure if it's all correct because I got mixed up with actual easy off oven cleaner, which is much more powerful and much different than the easy off Degreaser spray

I like both of these cleaners, but they sure atomize a lot of chemicals, especially the Dawn/Mr. Clean type sprayer. If you spray it in sunlight you can see how much hangs in the air. The Easy-Off sprayer can be sprayed in more of a foam spray if you don't squeeze the trigger hard, which is good because it is a powerful cleaner. That or I point it at a sponge which helps keep it from atomizing as much. The other technique is to spray and walk away. When I use the Dawn sprayer I usually hold my breath, spray, and get out of the way for a minute or two. I don't know if one cleaner is safer than the other, but common sense would tell you to avoid breathing any of this stuff. Both Dawn/Mr. Clean Powersprays and the Easy-Off give off a strong odor which is not just the fragrance.

With Dawn it is the fragrance, the free and clear one that I get doesn't really smell like anything.

Most likely, since it's only not recommended for copper, wood surfaces, and brass. Granite and marble are fine.

That's good to know, but if it uses the same cleaning chemicals, it's still best to avoid inhaling as much as possible. I know it sounds like "duh!", but I don't think most people realize how much hangs in the air after spraying.

I guess I'm not the only one who thought of this issue https://opendata.ul.org/search/in...ts/4222991
