How often does McDonalds app do this? earn large amount of points if you purchase certain items. Also known as a challenge, but they didn't use that word. Other apps do challenges also, starbucks & burger king.

The only other time I caught it was when it was National Espresso Day or something. If one bought a Frappe, Latte, or Coffee; one received an additional 500 points.

I just caught this today and I have no idea if it is associated with a National Day.

My best advice would be to keep checking your McDonald's app on weekends. Look in the bonus area (where the breakfast bonus can be found, which replenishes every week).

Pro tip: To make the best use of this deal, order an item that is around $2.49, so it rounds up to $2.50 and there is your first 250 points. Then the 500 will give you a triple on the 250. If you want to match it, buy an item up to $7.49 (but then again, why would you if all the items you can choose from will not be that much and you are getting 750 points for the lowest common denominator, if you pick the lowest priced item out of the options?).
