It MAY approach $20, but last year I played the waiting game into February and ended up paying $30, the best price at that time

I'd jump on it. No point to waste time and effort on keeping track of sales to save a couple of bucks. It is splitting pennies here, but technically, if you are due a refund of any meaningful amount, you may as well file early(ier) and earn an extra buck or two in a savings account or a CD.

I need some advice. I have always used TurboTax to file income tax returns. But it's expensive. Is it a good idea for me to try out the H&R Premium to file joint federal taxes? I have W2s and will receive documents from Robinhood and Webull. Thanks!
You do not need Premium

rental property income or if you are self-employed, otherwise, get the Deluxe. They had language last year that made me think I needed Premier for investments, but it turned out to be false (as pointed out by someone here) as Deluxe had everything.

Deluxe does both rental property and self employment

This and Turbotax are the same crap, right? Looks like I can import last years' file from Turbotax into this and this is cheap enough I might just buy it

If you have an LLC with some revenue, if the business better? Last year I tried the Business one but the interface was so horrible that I couldn't do anything with it.
And the rest of the filing was simply the Deluxe.
You do not need the Business or premium versions for a LLC. It is just passthrough income just like 1099 or any self employment income and Deluxe handles it. Business version are only needed for truly incorporated and separate from you business that file it's own tax forms.

FreetaxUSA is $0 or $15 with state, and won't force you to upgrade to premium for extra forms for more complex taxes. (crypto requires filing 1099-DA this year. Or if you had rental property the deluxe probably doesn't have the correct forms).
If you had a business then I could see using H&R block premium business.
Deluxe does rental property and it has a lot more than the online crap does. To get what you get with this installed software would cost near $90 on "FreeTaxUSA.

All online service suck and are a ripoff in comparison the installed software. Go read reviews at Trustpilot and see all the people that end up paying when they thought it free. .

You fail to mention that you are not really sending people to FreeTaxUSA which is just a mirror/shadow site of TaxHawk that throws "Free" into their name to suck in the unwary.

You also do not know what yo are talking about telling people they need the Business Block when they do not. I have been using Deluxe with multiple business for near thirty years. Most small business are pass through income and do not file corporate taxes. That is the only time you need a Business version. You bring nothing but lack of knowledge, misinformation and confusion that may cost people money and major headaches.

If you want to promote FreeTaxUSA so strongly put it up as its own deal. But please stop just winging it about stuff you do not know about.

Anyone know for sure what premium does over deluxe? I recall reading somewhere that there is nothing premium does that deluxe does not do but that seems silly. My taxes are complicated this year due to a small inheritance involving inherited IRAs etc.
Deluxe and Premium do the same forms. Your taxes are not complex. What your about will get reported on a 1099-R and is handled in the Iccome section of Deluxe

I have a business on the side for over 15 years now, plus I do a lot of trading of stocks. Deluxe has always had my back. I've actually upgraded before, because of my business and realized I didn't need to. For me, Deluxe still does everything

based on the product name can i assume HR deluxe fed and state will seamlessly do the same thing?

Yes but Block does give you five federal efiles to use.

I use one and mail state in. Keeps my costs for taxes to the price of the package

The federal government stopped subsidizing free tax programs and so they will all cost $ this tax season. I always used to e-file for free for both Fed & State.
I seldom use this word but it seems appropriate for some reason. Poppycock!
The federal government never subsidized free tax programs ever.

They did try that Direct File last year that did only 20% of taxpayers with a per return cost somewhere between $138 - $900. The IRS did their damndest hide the true cost to the taxpayer and that sure was not "free". They could have hired Block to do them at $25 per return and saved 80% of what they wasted

You my good sir have no sense or facts at all.

Things are not "free" when real costs are in the millions, billions and trillions. Someone else was just forced to pay them. By your logic plantation slave owners got the cotton "free".

Do some reading on it all before you share misinformation.

You could get an additional 15% CASHBACK on TOP of this discount, if you're thinking with portals. 😉
Check your tracking. My purchase only tracked at 1% when, as Dave pointed out, there is an "improved offer" of 15% for Software & Digital Games Purchase. I opened a ticket.

Thank youThis is great news as I was under the impression that IRS Free File was ended. I will 100% be checking in a few days to see if they are still showing on the IRS website
