Good price for a mat, but take it from someone who permanently destroyed his elbows and wrists hitting golf balls off a mat, don't use a cheapie. Buy a good mat and save your body. When I built my simulator, at first I bought an official driving range mat, it wasn't cheap and it was quick thick, but it still destroyed my joints. Then I went to a fiberbuilt grass series mat and it is MUCH easier on the body. There are countless stories of people having to have surgery on their elbows, wrists and hands from hitting off a basic mat.

This would probably be good for throwing out on your lawn to chip and practice a little with, but I wouldn't do much more than that. Just my opinion.

I don't think anyone buying this mat is taking anywhere near the number of shots needed to do that kind of damage. The mat you recommended is great but for what, about five times the price? Different audiences.

I've seen folks buy these mats and cut out for a hitting strip that is easier on joints. Use it primarily to stand on.

I had no idea, but that makes sense. My aim with my driver needed your advice

If you want my honest opinion, jump on Skillest and look for a reasonably priced coach and take a few lessons. Quite a few coaches offer a free lesson to check them out. I typically recommend most people buying like a 3 lesson package and take a lesson every couple months. That gives you enough time between lessons to actually work on the moves.

If you are a serious golfer,(like practice daily) you can do unlimited packages with a coach and you can send in a video or two every day if you wish. (Depends on the coach and the package)

I think people buying a mat, are people that are into practicing, and will therefore hit quite a few shots. Therefore, its more important to prevent injury, no matter how small or little it may be.
I've practiced on mats and it has definitely made my elbows tender. I have practiced the same amount, if not more on turf, and have no issues.
Long story short, save your elbows. Practice on mats sparingly.

I bought the Elite from them via Costco as I started playing golf this year and wanted to get some practice in. I hit off it pretty regularly, haven't suffered any noticeable injury as a result. I do think there are better mats on the market available, but when you're talking about a $500+ mat versus the $110 one here, you've probably limited it to only people who practice more seriously who would already have known about the better options. Most of the people buying this are probably looking at it the same way, an entry level mat to see whether it's used enough to warrant investment in something more durable and safer for the joints.

I am planning on upgrading myself, but when I do I'm going to go the route of the Golfsimulator subreddit and pick up a mat from eBay and put some EVA foam under it.
