Been very happy with my $10 ( now $20) battery operated Oral B electric toothbrush. Use rechargeable Eneloop AA batteries. No need 2 change often.

I have yet to see what is so great about the "New Style" Braun Oral-B Toothbrushes. I'm fairly certain they introduced the new style because of so many aftermarket compatible brushes being introduced for the old style in the past 10 years or so. If I didn't have a new, in box 3000, I'd be in-4-1 of these.

EDIT: I see there are some aftermarket iO brushes available and the new style is quieter as it uses a magnetic drive vs. traditional motor, which is what the older design uses. Reviews seem to indicate the newer style iO units provide a better clean, but I'm not completely convinced of that since that is mostly the work of the brush head. For me, I wouldn't know until I had my 6 Month cleaning/check-up at the dentist to compare between the two.
I've been using a Braun / Oral-B Electric toothbrushes since at least the late 1980's and they've been great.
