It's not an issue with brand; it's how chemistry works. The chemical reaction in standard alkaline batteries produce 1.5 V while the chemical reaction in rechargeable NiMH batteries produce 1.2 V.
For advanced users, there is such a thing as rechargeable lithium ion batteries that are capable of outputting 1.5 V. But you need to use specialized battery chargers. I would strongly advise most people to avoid them due to risk of battery fires if you don't know what you're doing (or if your friend borrows the batteries and tries to recharge them using a regular charger).

Good deal. Though, keep in mind that these rechargeable batteries run on low voltage (1.2-1.3V) while typical alkaline runs on 1.5V. I bought a ton of these to be used for kids' toys, and some of them won't work with low voltage batteries.

This is the normal price, sometimes it spikes a couple of bucks, but 31.98 is the usual price.

Is there a brand that produces the same voltage that is rechargeable?

It's not "these" rechargeable batteries, it's ALL NIMH rechargeable batteries. It's been that way from the dawn of time so I don't know how you could be surprised by it. Very common knowledge.

This has become such a go-to pricing strategy for Amazon, I just expect bait and switch prices whenever I click an Amazon link. They seem to put stuff on sale to get people's attention and then quickly raise the price and hope people buy it anyway. I guess customers don't get mad like they would at a physical retailer that they had to drive to and waste an hour of time.

For real. I haven't seen any AA deals this whole holiday season, regular or pros.

Nickle metal Hydride, a cheap and outdated chemistry. Also this deal just isn't hot.

Ni-MH. Sucks that it's so safe and reliable. What a bummer!

I added the pro to my digital thermostat and read low battery every time even after charge

FYI : I bought a 12-pack of these for $22.03 + tax back in November. That's about $1.84/battery. Not sure how much of a "deal" this really is.
