The 4070 Ti Super (this card) out performs the non-Ti 5070 in every metric, by a fairly sizable margine. If you're spending ~$600 on a card it should either be this one or the 9070 XT. If you care about ray tracing and don't mind an open box product, get the 4070 Ti Super. Otherwise get the 9070 XT.
Right now it's really hard to make an argument for the 5070 due to the price drop on some of 9070 models. The 9070 in most games, even with RT on, beats out the 5070 or loses within 5% for the same price. Without RT on, the non XT 9070 beats out the 5070 by 10-20% almost across the board.
Don't buy any AMD product if you wanna run Black Myth: Wukong with RT on.

Is the 9070 XT not good at ray tracing or just not as good as 4070 ti?
Bought the MSI Shadow 3X OC RTX 5070 for $440 (after complaining to Walmart about their sales practices). Is this card worth the extra $155 having less efficient memory speeds, older DisplayPort 1.4 (3×DP 1.4a, 1×HDMI 2.1a VS. 3×DP 2.1b, 1×HDMI 2.1b), and DLSS 3.5, Ada AI acceleration VS. DLSS 4, DisplayPort 2.1, Blackwell AI boost? Which is more future proof?
DisplayPort 1.4a: Offers a bandwidth of up to 26 Gbps, supporting resolutions up to 4K at 120Hz and 8K at 30Hz. It also utilizes Display Stream Compression (DSC) to achieve higher resolutions and refresh rates.
DisplayPort 2.1b: Provides a substantial increase in bandwidth, reaching up to 80 Gbps. This allows for 10K resolution at 60Hz or dual 4K displays at 144Hz without compression, making it ideal for ultra-high-definition displays and gaming.

The 9070 XT is better (sometimes significantly) than the 4070 Ti Super in most titles, regardless of RT or not. The 9070 XT handles RT fine, but not as well as the newer gen 5070 Ti. Not everyone has a Micro Center near them to get a 9070 XT at a comparable price however, so I wanted to give the 4070 Ti Super some credit for being a very capable last gen offering. Most retailers that aren't Micro Center look to be around $650-700 for the 9070 XT so if you're saving upwards of $100 on this card the 5-8% decline in general performance is easier to swallow.
If you have a MC and can get a 9070 XT for $580, it's straight up the best bang for buck GPU on the market at the moment.
I would say that the deal is borderline acceptable, but wouldn't go as far as saying its "good" either. Newer 5070 ti cards can be purchased for 20% more ($730). With that you get a 14 % power boost (according to userbenchmark.com), newer technology (including MFG), better power efficiency. Contrast the open box card with a 5070 non-ti, which is about 6% faster (according to userbenchmark.com), and sells for 16% less ($500). If the Zotac were selling the open box card for $550 or less, it would offer a better value proposition (in my mind). If it was me, I would pass unless I had some immediate need for 16 GB of VRAM, and couldn't afford the extra $130 or so for a newer card (which offers better future proofing).
Couple of other related concerns with this card. While GPUs may returned for a myriad of reasons, I suspect that fan noise and coil whine may be major reasons. Non-super version of this card is already loud. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F_qLG2eXiQ for Jansn Benchmarks's unboxing review of RTX 4070 Ti trinity (43 db at 30% fan speed, 52.5 db at 50% fan speed, 61.1 db at 75% fan speed, and 71.3 db at 100% fan speed). Not optimistic that the upgraded version, which uses the same IceStorm cooling system is any better.
You are 100% correct on the benchmarks, however I recently went with a 5070 ti on sale at $730 due to AMD's stance on planned obsolescence with driver support. I had a 6800 xt and could not believe that AMD just gave up on that card as it was still handling most games just fine at 1440p. I hate Nvidia as much as the next person but AMD will never get another dime from me for video cards. They did the same thing a couple of years ago with my friend's amd card, which was still performing just fine. For transparency my system also has an Amd 5800xt cpu. With Intel completely losing themselves on cpu side I will still give amd a chance on cpus. For those not familiar, https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-c...900-series
What is hilarious is that they will support a cpu socket for 6+ years but not a gpu 🤣

That is true, you also get 4xFG and DLSS4. I would say at $550 or $530 this would be a no brainer but at $600 it's on the edge
I got a new 5070 for $470, worth it to return for this?
No. They are very close in speed, 5070 has the new multiframe tech. 4070TiS has 4gb extra Vram. They are pretty similar cards. You did well at $470, enjoy the 5070!
Ah, yeah. At first I thought this was a non-issue, but the text is concerning in the article you link.I was just looking to get a 9070 XT, new from MC, I'm not too interested in open-box. But that article gave me pause. But apparently there is a clarification follow up, https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-c...ture-gamesDoes that seem to be a better position?
In his experience, maintenance mode was code for a couple of updates and then NOTHING. I'm not taking that chance. Thankfully I was able to sell it to make up some of the cost of new card.

that's just a lie, the 4070stupidname is still better than the 9070xt at Raytracing

lol, userbenchmark
and there is no such thing as "futureproofing" NVIDIA could kill driver support tomorrow if they so choose
9070xt has been close to this price recently a few times, but I think it was Microcenter. I'd want the warranty of a new one since I keep GPU's so long, it's hard to stomach $600 for a used, generation-old GPU with a very limited warranty.
