I'm an engineer and geek out over data and car setups, plus I eventually want to get a track car or get into karting, so my main priority was realism. The G29 often made me feel like I was just playing an arcade game at Dave & Buster's, which was discouraging and killed the immersion. The direct drive setup is the complete opposite since it feels more like actual driving. I also really like the customization it offers over the entry level sets.
Definitely worth the jump for me. Plus, I got everything on a great Black Friday sale or refurbed, so it wasn't as expensive as one might think.
