I just sold this laptop on ebay, because I picked up the Zenbook S 16 open box on a great sale.

I do miss aspects of this laptop, the UM3406. Here are some notable aspects:
  • OLED screens at WUXGA resolution exhibit rainbowing around text. that's just the nature of it. When I came from a LCD screen, it was so very noticable. After some time though, you adjust.
  • The bluetooth audio on this laptop has some severe latency, so there's a significant delay in sound.
  • The chassis will get super duper smudgey.
  • the 8840HS is a pretty phenomenal chip on both CPU and iGPU front for this form factor. I suggest all zenbook users get G Helper. There is a bit of room for a stable undervolt, which helps performance, thermals and battery life.
  • Pretty bad cooling. It can get heat soaked pretty easily depending on how you're using it, so it will eventually thermally throttle down on heavy compute or graphics. it doesn't go slow, just... slower. and if you're playing a game struggling for frames, then keep struggling bro. undervolt it.
  • the SSD is easy to swap out, but I had to go wired ethernet to get a working wifi driver on reinstall.
