You can, but it's not optimized for that. I think there's the Gameball which has a proper sensor for tracking faster movement. Of course, for non-comp games this will work perfectly as long as you know how to use it.

Outside of my original MX Ergos developing the double click problem, the Ergo S just feels like a downgrade to me outside of using USB C.
Compared to the original MX Ergo, the Ergo S implements its device switch button in an awkward way. In the original MX Ergo, pressing the device switch button immediately swaps you to the next device. This makes sense and is consistent; one click always brings you to next device. The MX Ergo S flubs this and has the swap be done in 1-2 clicks depending on how long ago you last pressed the swap button. If you haven't pressed the button in the last 5 seconds or so, then you need 2 clicks to swap and 1 click to swap if you have pressed it recently. Doesn't sound like a big deal, unless you're used to how the original MX ergo worked and thought your new "upgraded" one was defective because it wasn't switching. I wish they didn't make this change (or at least put an option in software to make it work like the original).
Some people like the silent clicks, but I think they are a downgrade too. I guess the louder clicks can be annoying from the original, but the clicks on the Ergo S are also physically mushy with little to no tactility to them. It is to the point where I can't tell sometimes if I actuated the click.

MX Ergo (non-S) felt too big in my hand vs M570. Shelved.

^ This. I have an MX Ergo that has the double click problem, been replaced under warranty once already. Thought about investing in better quality switches, but I suck at soldering and the switches are tiny.
I had the same issue with the m570 that I got a decade ago. Looks like they don't plan on fixing the issue. It's crazy because I barely used that mouse.

I used to use these on all my computers. Went with a trackpad for desktop use (Mac) and never looked back.
