Base iPhone 17 is not an incremental update but a generational leap over all previous base iPhones. For 300 more you'd get a much better spec phone which will last you much longer in terms of future proofing the device

This is just normal price. Not a deal. In a couple of months, metro or cricket, total, straight talk, boost and the like will be selling the 15 for $99 or $149 max.

My kid wants an iPhone, this is the only "normal deal" ( not a hack or 60 day unlock ) and also not refurbed. I hate asking but is this a ok deal good? great? Any insight would be killer. And happy new year slick dealers!
Edit, it shows if i activate it through V its only $399. fine print? I am with Verizon but wont do payments/contracts.

The regular iPhone 15 doesn't support Apple Intelligence features, even though it can run the latest iOS updates that introduce Apple Intelligence on other devices. Per Apple, Apple Intelligence requires certain hardware (like more RAM and advanced processing) that the regular iPhone 15 doesn't include. That may or may not matter to you.

If you want cheaper, and if you have Verizon postpaid, you could get the iPhone 14 128 GB for $300. It's on a finance agreement, but you can pay off the device early. It's locked to Verizon for 60 days but it sounds like you already use the service so if you don't plan to leave Verizon before 60 days, maybe get that one?

Too expensive. 128 isn't enough storage anymore. 60Hz screen, large bezels. Can't wait to replace my 15PM with an android fold.

Not a deal IMO. Go find a slightly used one on Swappa for much cheaper. I have a 15 and it's valued less than this across multiple trade in offers.

It's getting long in the tooth with iOS 26 and doesn't support Apple Intelligence.

Having briefly owned an iPhone with their AI, I think the benefits across messages and news summaries are there to splurge for a phone with it.
