It was $30 in two different Costcos, in different states.

Cost our business $100 for a fire extinguisher company to come out and "service" and recertify it.
Cheaper to just buy a new one.

You can get them inspected and recharged if needed but the cost will be higher than just replacing it.

Good deal! This is the time of year I think about smoke/CO detectors - and the fire extinguisher totally slipped my mind.

We purchased several of these a few years ago from Costco and had to take half of them back because they weren't fully charged. If you have something worth saving, buy good ones!

In commercial use, inspected annually, recharged every six years and hydrotested every 12 years. At home, make sure the guage needle is always in the green, turn the extinguisher upside down occasionally and tap the bottom to make sure the powder isn't caked on the bottom.
