It's also super rattley and hollow sounding despite having so much plastic inside.

Ok guys, way too many mice at good prices:

502x
502Hero
309Lightspeed
305Lightspeed

For an adult male with decent sized hands, I suspect the 309 and 305 may feel a smidge small for me. The 502x scares me a little with all the freaking buttons I probably don't need. Is the 502 the best way to go for a casual gamer/mostly productive use? Any experts weigh in on this? The reviews I've read list a lot of positives for them all, and I don't feel like testing 4 mice and returning. Any expert advice would be appreciated.

Pretty sure all the 502s are (basically) the same. Everythings remappable, but you've got the sniper button by your thumb, adjusts dpi while pressed. Obviously forward/backward buttons for web browsing. Next to the left click you have dpi up/down buttons. There are 4-5 presets which can be adjusted. And the button near the mouse wheel enables/disables infinite scroll. The other is likely to change between internal save slots on the mouse.
G502 feels good in my hand as a guy, infinite scroll is fun. The extra buttons don't present any sort of issue in day to day activities. You barely notice they're there.

I have the 502x wireless and it's a great mouse. You can remap the buttons in ghub aoftware based on the game and it will switch automatically. I don't think I can ever go back to wired though.

This greatly depends on your grip type. For claw and fingertip grip, it's very comfortable for all sized hands. For palm grips, it's a tad small, but still comfortable. No ring finger rest depending on how you feel about it (I personally hate ring finger rest).

Logitech stuff are all cheaply made and I would never recommend any other product nowadays, but the g502 is a tank. It's my only mouse that's lasted through the years. I've gone through about 4 others (2 Logitech, razer, Corsair) and had to come back since they all eventually broke. I have the original g502. There's a reason they have stuck to this design for like a decade: people like it.

There's a lot of criticism of its weight with the recent ultra ultralight fad and people gatekeeping heavier mice. Some are absolute zealots about it. Like most normal people, I don't notice the mouse weight much when swapping between regular and ultralight.

Thanks for the 2 cents gang. Going to try the 502x, a buddy is getting the 309, and I'll compare. Wink

Absolutely not in my anecdotal case. I have 2 -black and white. Both slide smooth and has no hollow sound and deff nothing loose rattles inside. Light but doesn't feel cheap. And the X stands for updated switches compared to reg Hero with double clicking failures

Nah definitely large amounts of echoey plastic and plastic on plastic noises. Typical consumer electronics cheapness. I fixed mine with some fabric tap on the shell and grease on the plastic components that touch around the middle click and scroll ratchet.
