The harman curve is a standard for everyday listening, so I'm not sure why you're saying they're for audio production specifically.

I have a pair of open back ATH-AD700 that's old enough to vote but it's been going strong. I wonder if these would be an upgrade or just a side grade. I mainly play FPS games.

I have the K702s I got at guitar center for 99? I love the AKGs for gaming used them on my gaming rig. I use a Fosi tube amp to make the profile a bit warmer as the AKGs are a bit bright. I also pump the bass up a bit, the AKGs EQ well and are comfy. Sound stage can't be beat for the price especially for positional audio. For work and my first pair of Sennheiser's I got the HD 6XX. Initially there is something called the veil, you have to get used too. Coming from brighter headphones there is a sort of blanket on the sound profile. Initially this took some getting used too but I prefer to wear the HD6XX all day as its a more personal and warmer sound. They also don't need too much power to drive. So I'd imagine these 560S are more for casual listening and have a similar sound profile. At this price I'd bite if I didn't already have the 6xx. I think you'll enjoy both if you have them. Sort of like wearing a different outfit for different occasions.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have been thinking of getting a tube amp for the K702. I currently use a Fiio K5 pro with them and I know the ESS dacs can be a bit sterile for some headphones. I am probably overthinking it but saving up for the hd 6XX might be preferred. I know it's double this price roughly.

https://www.rtings.com/headphones...n=tests:0: I don't think this follows a harman curve at all, in fact its inverse to it. There's no bass past 100hz and no highs past 10khz. This doesn't make it suitable for audio production at all

If you go with a budget tube amp, go with a warmer tube than the generic ones they come with. The stock tubes on the tube amps can be really harsh for the K702, amplifies the weaknesses of the headset a lot but making the highs even higher and brightens it even further. Research some warmer tubes for it if you go that route and you won't be disappointed!

Used these for a few years, currently using HiFiMan Sundaras.

Unbeatable at this price point, IMO. Easy EQ, super comfortable and durable (they FEEL plastic-y but have taken a beating like a champ). I almost wish I never bought the Sundaras because they are only marginally better than the 560s but way less comfortable.

I had these in the past and found them to be a bit analytical/dry sounding. I ended up preferring the 58x instead.

Good to know. I prefer 58x over 6xx so probably won't even like these at all.

I see $75.99 for excellent. I have 599SE, is 560S going to be an upgrade?

I didn't like the 6xx either. I found them too veiled for my taste. HD58x and HD600 are my go to headphones from Sennheiser.

hd560s are brighter and less veiled than hd650/hd6xx

they're probably closer to the k701/2 than the hd6xx if I remember correctly.

I basically spammed the checkout process and my order went through. Order is in "Packaging" state w/tracking information. Guessing there's still a chance for it to be cancelled, but it's looking good so far.
