Price is better than the recent $320 from BF through Amazon. But I've never heard of colamco. They say that they are an authorized Anker dealer. But they aren't listed on Anker's website: https://www.anker.com/wheretobuy

Yeah sounds fishy. Thanks for heads up. I mean a great price for a banger TB5 hub that is relatively new. Again sounds fishy.

Looking up the company, it is a small storefront in a strip mall. Seems unlikely they have all the products listed on the website in stock. They might be drop shipping everything, or else something fishy. Anybody know? Anybody ever bought from them? I see a bunch of good stuff I'm interested in, but unsure of site.

This is hot garbage. Anker warranty is pure trash. Almost no one speaks English as a first language, and the best they can ever offer is a replacement. There is ZERO troubleshooting. They will not fix a thing. And, its pulling teeth to get a replacement of an already flawed product.

For me I was debating on the CalDigit TS5 Plus for $499.99+ or this for $273 and chose this because the price and I like that it doesn't have an external power brick. I think the CalDigit TS5 Plus is the best one out right now but for me I'd rather have the $230+ extra in my pocket
Anker has been good for me, only reached out to support once though in the past on a different product and it was smooth.
My order hasn't shipped yet here even though it said it would Friday on the product page, I'll give them a few days next week to ship it before I try to cancel and reconsider the CalDigit TS5 Plus.

I am still on the TS3 Plus I bought in 2018. When I get a Thunderbolt 5 laptop I will probably get the TS5 or the TS5 Plus. I like CalDigit because they have a real support department. They helped me troubleshoot some issues with an old Fujitsu scanner, and I was amazed that they went through the trouble of replicating my issue. Anker and OWC are common in my office, and on paper they may look good, but they don't have a real support team. They just sell and forget, whereas CalDigit tried to solve my issue. Pretty rare in this day and age.

I was watching some tear down videos of both the CalDigit and the Anker.

It seems that CalDigit uses higher quality name brand components, and higher overall build quality on the boards and guts of the unit. The CalDigit is even made to be taken apart and put back together.

Whereas the Anker seems to use cheaper quality no-name components, and a lower build quality. And you almost have the break apart the Anker to open it up.

I almost feel that the CalDigit is built to last, and can even be rebuilt/fixed if certain chips fail. And the Anker is more a "throw away" product designed to be used, and then tossed in the landfill.

Also, a pro of having the external power brick is that the Doc itself will generator less heat. An internal power supply gets very hot, as evidenced by the fact that the Anker needs to have an internal fan to keep it cool. In some ways, it is better to have the external power supply like the CalDigit to offload that heat. And also if the external power supply goes bad, you just replace the power supply with a generic power supply. With the Anker, if the internal power supply goes bad, the entire docking station gets tossed in the landfill.

My order actually shipped on Friday and is expected to arrive tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the Anker but if or when it breaks in the future and I can't get a replacement I will move to CalDigit's best dock next time.

2 year warranty on the Anker. Post back how it goes, so we know if Colamco is a good retailer. They have a few products I'm interested in on the website, but wanted to know if they are legit before I place an order. Thanks.

The Satechi Thunderbolt 5 CubeDock announced at CES looks good, better specs than the Anker one, can put a SSD in it, and is 20% off for pre-order. But I'll be happy with this Anker one.

The Sonnet Echo TB5 dock has a built in nvme 4.0 ssd. You can choose 1, 2 or 4TB. From what I have read, Sonnet is a quality brand.
