The hole is there to relieve tailbone pain. There are pictures of how it's supposed to be used.

Not a fan of this design. Made my legs fall asleep. Too stiff!

It goes the opposite way you'd think. Bunch of guys around the office using this type of thing, every single one of them had it the wrong way.

I bought this one last time it was listed here. And tried to return it, I was given a refund and told to keep it. It's a piece of crap and useless to me. I'm going to donate it.
