My 2nd favorite miter, after the DeWalt 7.25". I run mine with a 5ah PS battery.

From someone that has both, what would be the better choice if you had to pick 1 saw as a home owner? Seems like overall, the 7 1/4 would be a bit more versatile, maybe more cut options overall.

As you said yourself. Homeowner, meaning you're not carrying the saw around to the job site. Get one that fits your budget. I recommend 10" to 12", 7-1/4 is meant for jobsite, not very versatile for cutting wider boards.

Anyway, this is not a sliding saw, which also limits its use. Can't believe Dewalt would make a 10" non-sliding.

I have the 10" Metabo 36v sliding one and wish this were a slider, Mine has a little more flex than I'd like. Then again a battery gets me through 2+ days of cabinet/trim work.

There are plenty of reason why one would not choose a slider...one is precision. Slider saws have deflection depending on your input on the saw. When I'm doing trim work I always prefer a none slider... I guess that's why I have several different miter saws.

My 20 year old 12" porter cable is still flawless, the laser has always been dead on accurate. Moved to the cordless slider for our barndominium build during framing.
