Any expert opinions on whether this deal is worth a 45 minute drive? TIA

Makes less noise and isn't as powerful as regular fuel. I only know one person that actually bought the surge

Surge is a great feature, I love all mine, maybe u give up some power but if u run a gun often it's well worth it to not listen to that pulsating impact sound rattling your head all day, hydraulic drivers are on another level imo The Bentley's of Milwaukee & you deserve it
I grabbed another m12 surge kit around Black Friday for $90 because I liked it so much, think it's the 2551

Not worth it when the gen2 is out and is just a better product

i haven't heard this used in real life but in video reviews it sounds similar but only a few decibels lower

but reviewers do state it does significantly sound less harsh

If u want more power spend the extra & get the newer 2761 model 1k inch pounds torque, great for lags & probably the best gun in the market right now

Got the last one at my nearby store. They're getting better at hunting em down in store!
To those arguing you should just get a Gen2, I mean, sure? Because better is always better and we gotta have the best!!! For those of us that don't have this tool and want it, and enjoy Fuel being better than most other products, having the latest Gen just isn't worth 100% more money.
But if the argument is don't drive 45 minutes to check for a deal, just buy the new one - totally agree with that. How much gas and time do you want to waste if they don't have it? Even if they do have it, you just paid another $20 in gas for it? Worth it if you're nearby though.

How many does your store show in stock? One thing I've learned is that Home Depot's inventory tracking isn't the most reliable. You might end up driving all the way out there for nothing. That being said, it's also possible that a store closer to you has one at this price, but it's just not showing up in the online inventory. So it might be worth it to stop by a local store before heading out. I literally did this last week with the DeWalt DCD800D2. Online inventory said closest one was 30 miles away, but ended up finding one at my nearest store.

The local store says one in stock - in my experience, I never find it when it says there is only one. The staff there tell me that last one usually grows legs 😂

The farther store (45 mins) shows 5 in stock....

I have one of these that I use at work quite often. For driving screws and normal impact driver things I really like it, definitely quieter and smoother operation. I bought it originally for something outside of its intended purpose which was to drive in fairly high torque machine bolts. I thought it would be quieter in the shop, but it literally sends the shock right up your arm. if you stay within it's intended purpose, It's really nice and I would recommend it.

It's a pretty solid deal, but notUnheard of to get from Acme or CPO. I determined from my own testing the M18 surge is significantly quieter than my comparison with the 2953-20.

Love the m12 Surge. So much quieter. The gentleman's impact driver. Online comparisons don't do justice to how much quieter and smoother the Surge is.
