Sure. A lot of people hike in trail runners. I like the way these lace. I use a pair of similar Salomon as my primary backpacking shoe as I can get them on and off quickly for river crossings or going to pee in the middle of the night.

They have the best lacing system of any trail shoe I've used. I never want to go back to tie laces for trail running/marathons.

It keeps showing $58.81, but when i add them to my cart it jumps to $99.98.

Make sure shipping is selected, as that may be the price at your local club. Otherwise, maybe it varies by location?

does this show have gore-tex? I found an almost identical shoe that says it's gore-tex. Only difference is is "contact grip" is written on the side of the toe box.

If you're a serious hiker in difficult/rocky terrain, probably not. It's not that durable. But if it's just regular flat surface then it's fine. I actually prefer running shoes over hiking shoes.

Usually the Gore-Tex ones will say GTX on the description. I have these plus the GTX version. If you're going to be in a wet environment, go with the GTX.
