It vents from the back, as you can see in the images. How would ChatGPT know the thermals of each individual Acer model?

It's a $150 laptop.

TN panel is what you get on an ultrabudget laptop.
LPDDR is what it is
It's an N proc, RAM speed is completely irrelevant.

There couldn't be a better laptop for doing school work from home or on the road. Terrible machine for games or high demands but clever, prodigy, word, canva, IXL, IREADY, etc. perfect.

Can you connect this to the TV and use it with the lid closed without it overheating or is it like Dell laptops that overheat when you do that because they dispel heat out from the keyboard?

Edit: Nevermind, ChatGPT gave me the answer. It overheats also.

ChatGPT can't possibly know that.

ChatGPT, nor any other AI for that matter, doesn't know crap, it sources information (mostly opinions) from the Internet. It also cannot tell the difference between fact or fiction, worse still it randomly picks which conflicting information (opinion) it thinks you are more likely to prefer.

Not to mention how AI loves to "hallucinate." ChatGPT once gave me a long convoluted story about how Arnold Schwarzenegger was in the German army during WW2, specific exploits, etc when I asked it if the tank he used on the TV show Fubar was owned by him. FWIW it got that wrong too...he did own the tank, Arnold owns a few tanks. Not to mention he wasn't even alive during WW2 nor ever was a member of the German Army. So I'm guessing the rest of his WW2 record was wrong too.....

Fantastic budget computer. Couple of notes:
1) While it comes with its own proprietary charger, it does support USB C charging
2) With a software upgrade it supports multiple monitors with USB C hub + charging
I was looking for a budget laptop that could plug into my multiscreen desk setup where I use my $2,000 work computer - this checked all the boxes.

Can memory be upgraded?

Edit: Found out that it does not have any expansion slot. Just to put into perspective I am using a Dell Latitude 5590 with 16GB of memory. I have about 15 tabs opened in Brave and my OS usage is almost 13GB.

Seriously! People should really be encouraged to take introduction to AI classes before using it. I work in a field where a lot of my clients apparently like to use AI to read and/or write their emails, which causes HUGE problems in not just the technical aspect, but I can see these people's communication skills diminishing in real time. Someone I was able to communicate with just fine a few years ago is now sending me paragraphs of em dash littered slop that means NOTHING to the context we are actually discussing.

AI is like an intern who is eager to please, but often wrong.

Other than the configurable parts (CPU, memory, storage), how is this different from the $300 one? I do see the keyboard is not back lit. What about display, heating etc?

  1. TN screens are horrible. Just don't.
  2. 8GB of single channel RAM is junk.
  3. Non-upgradeable RAM is even worse.

This looks like a neat, reasonably powerful option as opposed to a mini PC for someone doing simple stuff (home assistant, Plex (this has QSV to handle transcodes), adguard/pi-hole, etc).

When they've got reasonable specs a laptop can be good for this stuff since you get an included keyboard+mouse+monitor to troubleshooting locally, built in battery backup, etc. Some additional config to do so you can manage having those components (battery health, making sure the monitor is off most of the time for power savings, etc) but ultimately at this price it seems very solid.
