My purchase history has this for $38 back in 2022. Crazy how much it costs now.

Ignore the brand name and look at the product itself. This is hydrolyzed isolate. Other brands don't even make hydrolyzed pure isolate. You may not need it but it's great if you're lactose intolerant.

I have this purchased in 2022 and it was around 75, so you must have gotten an insane deal.
I have the same deal in my history, $37.96 in 2022. Passing on this at this price.

I am so confused by the many brands. How does Dymatize compare to Optimum Nutrition or Quest?

Protein is protein, isolate has a higher concentration of protein, but gram for gram of protein content, concentrate is generally a better deal. Dymatize generally has better flavor than Optimum Nutrition, but for a long time Optimum nutrition was the standard. Both are reputable brands. I got Quest once, it has something else in it that makes it a little thicker.

I had the same issue but maybe I did S&S in the past on this protein. I ordered from my wife's account, no issue

In 2021, this was ~$6 per lb. I just checked my order history.

Dymatize is a solid brand. It was acquired by Post Holdings (and now part of BellRing Brands). Optimum Nutrition is owned by Glanbia, a major global dairy company, so being vertically integrated is a big plus. Glanbia pioneered cross-flow microfiltration (CFM), and its Provon whey is widely regarded as a gold standard in the industry. Can't really comment on Quest. They were known for their protein bars but I'm not familiar with their sourcing or corporate background.

Unfortunately, most companies don't list the Degree of Hydrolysis (DH). Back in the day, brands using PeptoPro were huge advocates of pushing high-grade hydrolysis and criticized others for 'fairy dusting' practices. Realistically, the majority - if not all - consumer-grade hydrolyzed whey on the market falls below 5% DH, which essentially behaves like a whey isolate with slightly lower lactose. While this or Optimum Nutrition's Hydrowhey may be better for those with lactose sensitivities, the lack of disclosure is a strong reason to stick with a regular membrane-filtered isolate or even a concentrate. Furthermore, high-DH whey is extremely difficult to flavor due to its naturally bitter nature.

Yeah, my prepandemic purchase point for a slick deal was about $5/lb for Dynamize or ON whey powder. I just can't bring myself to buy it at these prices.

I got 2 of the vanilla in November of 2024 for $102. I think the vanilla is great. I will hold off for a day and see if vanilla comes on sale. Otherwise I might hop on that quest nutrition protein powder. Never had it, but reviews seem good.

Its more than just the lactose though, look at the cholesterol in a concentrate (~25% daily amt) vs this (~4%). So if you have high cholesterol iso would be the way to go.
