The Moto G Power 5G 2024 stands out as a budget unlocked phone with useful extras like wireless charging, an SD card slot, a headphone jack, NFC, eSIM support, and a fast side fingerprint reader. It feels plenty fast for casual use, and after updates it can deliver good battery life. The 8GB RAM and 2024 CPU are also viewed as stronger than the 2025 and 2026 versions. Main drawbacks are occasional lag, battery drain, and reports of random screen or flashlight activation during calls, plus limited case availability for the 2024 model. A solid everyday option if you want the feature set more than premium polish.
Common Questions (5)
Screen protectors are easy to find, including Supershieldz options, but case availability is more limited because it is a 2024 model. An FNTCASE is specifically mentioned, and one package reportedly includes a screen protector.
For casual use like calling, light browsing, and reading, it can be plenty fast after updates, including Android 15. It may feel slow when switching apps or unlocking screens, and some units reportedly show random touch behavior during calls.
Yes. Adding a $26 Visible SIM can reportedly knock about $50 off the phone price, and buying direct from Motorola can add a $25 trade-in discount. A Straight Talk version is also mentioned as free with a $45 Silver plan and unlocking after two months of paid service.
The 2024 model does not support wireless Smart Connect, while the 2025 version does. Desktop Mode also will not work just by installing the app; screen mirroring requires both devices on Wi‑Fi unless the model supports wireless Smart Connect.
Yes. It includes wireless charging, a headphone jack, NFC, eSIM and physical SIM support, plus a side fingerprint reader. Those extras make it a practical budget phone if you want more than the basics.

The 2024 has a better CPU than both of them. moto is going backwards with the g Power.

Bought it for $200 two years ago so it's nice to see the price drop... word of warning though, after the last phone case fell apart (mom in law lives in a tropical environment which apparently encourages dry rot) I discovered options were limited far as finding a phone case for this given it's a 2024 model... didn't have any problems with a supershieldz screen protector being readily available from amazon however.
The "FNTCASE" case is nice ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CT5G3D6W )

Make sure to run all the updates first. Upgrades to Android15 and some other little things. After that they are plenty fast for most users and good battery life.
Can you return the unopened SIMs afterwards and keep the discount on the phones?
Here's the original SD post, including thoughts on that:

I recently switched to the moto stylus 2025 on the straight talk deal and in the last 45 days, the phone is much snappier, has all the same features, and no random button pressing. Plus it is cheaper than this deal.
