Especially in a situation where supply is being slowed like SATA SSDs.
IMO, the question should be "Is this a deal in the current market?" Not "Was this a good deal 2 months ago when the market was different". The analyst predictions seem to be that prices for flash memory will be increasing for the mid-term. Meaning we probably won't see SSD prices coming down until 2027 at the earliest. Of course, nobody knows the market. However, if you need to purchase now or in the near future, the prices of past don't really matter much.
To be more accurate, this item was not worth $140 2 months ago. That doesn't mean it isn't worth $140 now(and in the near future). Even in the long term, it is hard to predict the cost of SATA SSDs because manufacturing for these continues to ramp down. Will they go back to being sub-$100 in the future at some point? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, if you don't need a drive until 2027, why would you buy it now to begin with regardless of price?

Edit: oh this one doesn't have DRAM, if u do care about that.
Edit 2: take the 1-star review a complete grain of salt. Tooo many incomplete context, and irrelevance.

SATA is slow though (think of 500Mb/sec-ish) and this is a WD-Blue so it should be okay for the average desktop user (but not for NAS, or video, or performance/server-grade stuff).
