Is the locked in label rolls a thing for every seller? If not, the DEEPIN for $12.90 might be a better deal in the long run, as NIIMBOT labels are 3-4 cents per, where others are as cheap as 1 cent per. Just one order of the cheaper labels would save you more than the cost of the printer over being locked into the NIIMBOT system.

Code worked for me, bought one to give as a gift. I have this label maker, you need to use their branded labels, but otherwise it works great. Thanks!

If you buy NIIMBOT, you could save on labels by ordering from AliExpress rather than Amazon. Yet, it's gotta be a NIIMBOT branded label, cuz this won't take other (unbranded) labels. The product itself is good quality, the app is more refined so I don't mind paying extra for the labels which I don't imagine I'd need more than a roll each 6 months.

If you go with a different brand of label printer like Inkwon, it takes any label, which are generally cheaper in Amazon and in AliExpress. If you're expecting a heavy volume of prints, then going this route could save you money in the long run. I've tried this too and noticed that the adhesive on the stickers is a hit or miss.

IDK if this is the same 1 but I have 2 of the JADENS D110 & they have been absolutely awesome. A little difficulty connecting, sometimes. But really great in general.

I can't find the product info that says it takes generic labels, can you confirm?

I had used the ones with a built-in keypad before. I am looking for a new one now. How are these app-based label makers? Any benefit over the traditional ones?

The DEEPIN D110 is an upgraded version of the D11, featuring a more compact design, lighter weight, USB Type-C charging port, and slightly improved performance. Both are portable, inkless thermal label makers that connect to a smartphone app via Bluetooth.

Yes, NIIMBOT label printers use proprietary labels that contain RFID chips for automatic size detection, meaning they generally only work with official NIIMBOT tapes, though users can sometimes trick the app into recognizing similar-sized third-party labels by manually selecting dimensions in the software. The RFID technology allows the printer to identify the label type and size automatically, which is convenient but locks you into their ecosystem, notes {Link: John's Tech Blog and Reddit users.
Why NIIMBOT Labels are Proprietary:
RFID Technology: Each label roll has an embedded RFID chip that communicates with the printer and app, telling it what size and type of label is loaded.
Auto-Detection: This RFID chip enables automatic detection and calibration, eliminating the need for manual setup for each roll, according to this eBay listing and John's Tech Blog.
Workarounds for Non-NIIMBOT Labels:
Manual Configuration: If the dimensions are close, you can bypass the warning in the NIIMBOT app by creating a new label and selecting a standard size that matches the third-party paper's dimensions (e.g., 14mm x 40mm), says John's Tech Blog.
Similar Models: Some users find non-proprietary printers (like certain Zebra models) offer broader label compatibility, though they might lack the convenience of NIIMBOT's auto-detection, according to Reddit users.
In essence, while NIIMBOT offers quality labels, their proprietary RFID system creates a closed ecosystem, though manual workarounds exist for users wanting more flexibility.
