Did You Know That a Heat Pump Can Be More Than 100% Efficient?
https://www.cnet.com/home/energy-...heres-how/
That story makes a very misleading claim and even reading the article it is still pretty wrong how they tried to walk back their clickbaity claim.

100% over the "coefficient of performance." The coefficient's 100% compared to a "conventional electric resistance heater's" max efficiency....which is grossly inefficient in terms of heating performance. That is like measuring "efficiency" in MPG against a horse, then claiming the car is a million times more eFfIcIeNt than the equus caballus.

400% more efficient than the best electric heater is very different verses being "more than 100% efficient." Which would violate the laws of physics....as you'd be getting more energy than you put in.

thanks but per reviews, I'll probably wait for a better product for such a main appliance. I've about worn out my Pelonis after 25yrs so will probably go with a major brand for my bedroom. I have LP force air in my little cabin but the intake in back room is too loud for sleep. I just leave it on low overnight to keep my pipes from freezing. Safe and efficient with NO fan noise.

I've heard these are a lot safer than ceramic space heaters. I used one to keep my bedroom toasty while letting the rest of my house get cold back in the day. I noticed if I pointed a fan at it from about 10 ft away it really got the room feeling comfy fast. It sort of needed to churn the warm air from the ceiling down to me. If I didn't use a fan, it really got the air 6 ft above my bed really warm instead. I had really high ceilings so it might not be a factor for everyone.
They still can be hot to the touch. Definitely not safe if you cover it with a blanket.
But that tip is good to know. I don't like that it takes 15-30m to start getting a room feeling warm.

Oh, I put it in the middle of the room. Never put a blanket over it. Follow heater instructions. I was just saying, I blow a fan in the room to cycle the air around.

Heaters are 100% efficient. So .... Technically they are the most efficient device possible.
BS. Heat pumps are over 100% efficent.

The retail price is inflated but the price it is is actually decent. Someone referenced these heaters at Walmart but they run this $50 price minimum and go up.

Sigh... If it's an electric unit it's no different efficiency wise than any other electric one, you might as well have a few incandescent bulbs or turn your electric oven on it's all the same.

If there is an EMERGENCY and you need heat without power this is NOT your answer, get a kerosene heater or propane one running a generator or even worse a battery pack is silly for heating like this.

The nice thing about these units though is they are virtually silent, great for when watching tv not to drown out the noise etc.

A modern heat pump (the article wasn't wrong about that) however it certainly isn't over 100% efficient, let alone can achieve the claim "these units can actually reach above 100% efficiency -- usually in the range of 200% to 400% -- allowing you to receive more energy than you put in to begin with."

"aLlOwInG YoU To rEcEiVe mOrE EnErGy tHaN YoU PuT In tO BeGiN WiTh" violates the laws of physics.

By that logic they are not safe to use as a BBQ grill; not safe to heat a bathtub of water, and definintly not safe to put your junk in it.

Not idiot proof =/= not safe. By the way it will turn itself off if you nudge it a little so it will turn off if you throw a blanket on it.
