Am I wrong to be not playing with fire with these?

Scene: trimming grass on a hot day, string trimmer stops responding and this ends up blowing up on my face.

Tell me this is more of a Duracell and a Panasonic AA battery thing...

That's a risk for sure but I would only use these for low energy tools such as as a flashlight or for a fan.
For that, they will work just fine and not cause much of a hazard.

it would be interesting to see what this 5500mAh battery weighs compared to a real Ryobi battery.

Most aftermarket batteries seem to promise numbers like this 5500mAh , but the battery weighs less than a 4000mAh real Ryobi battery,

They must have some secret battery tech that the big companies do not have ! HaHaHa

Bigger concern to me is after a hard day of yard work you throw these on the charger only to have the BMS fail and the battery catch fire after you've gone to bed for the night.

Yep, same with 12v LIFEPO4 batteries. If a manufacturer advertises a certain AH of battery but it magically weighs significantly less than any comparable battery you know you're not getting what you're being advertised.

It's not something I worry about, and I'm risk averse. It's not that it has never or can't happen, it's just not very common or we'd see more lawsuits and calls to ban the things.

Good luck filing that case against GDBTTYFR in Shenzen.

I've bought these or one of the other offerings that are identical. They work great for the money, I think I only paid $15 per battery on sale. Are they 8000mAH? No, probably not, but honestly, there are more important things to worry about than that. I have compared them with my genuine Ryobi 4.0 AH batteries and the tools run as strong and as long. Also, only buy if they are Amazon Prime (easier to resolve issues if they don't work).

Someone found the 8000mAH two for $32 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G4VZN...ource=true

Some really odd phrasing in many of those Amazon reviews. And lots of very short 5-star reviews with vague statements like "Works good!" and "Fit my drill." I'm no Fakespot.com but most of them strike me as suspiciously shill-tastic.

This! Why buy fake 5500mAH when you can get fake 8000mAH for less. Kidding (sort of), I own these and they're the real value when it comes to Ryobi compatible batteries. You shouldn't be paying more than $15 to $16 for Ryobi knock-offs. Catch'em on sale.
