I just got them for Christmas And I really like them. I use hem with a JDS labs amp and dac combo and they sound great.

This review [erinsaudiocorner.com] is probably way more in-depth than most people here need but TLDR they are a great speaker for the money and size.

Got them the other week on the same deal. For my needs I'm happy with them. Wouldn't mind some extra bass from a sub but it's just not a fit to have one for my standing desk setup.

Have a set of r1280db units and they have been pretty great. Streaming BT to them is easy and they sound very good for the price.

If I want to use these for my turntable I don't need a amp since they are powered right? Just a phono preamp?

How do you connect these to a PC without using bluetooth? I want them for gaming and so forth, music too, but want a wired connection. These don't have USB.

Would this be good for a record player? Do I need an amp to run them? New in the audio space. Thanks

You need something like a DAC that has RCA connections in and a USB out.

I have a JDS Lab Element hooked up to my PC with my edifier speakers and headphones connected to it.

Dang, was trying to avoid having to buy any more components. If that's the case that a DAC is necessary, I think I'll have to pass. I was thinking about using the headphones 3.5mm connection, but wasn't sure if there is full audio transmission (for positional audio for gaming and so forth) that way. I know there are limitations in quality for bluetooth but not sure for the 3.5mm connection.

3.5mm to rca cable if you have a headphone output on the computer

Won't something like this work just connected to the motherboard audio header (since these monitors have an option for unbalanced TRS input)?

Or will going unbalanced make too much hum? (I am using an interface with my monitors and never tried hooking them up direct).
