Damage upgrades for the sword feel pointless. Enemies that take two hits to defeat with a level 1 sword still takes two hits to defeat with a level 10 sword.
Enemies are uninspiring, many of them are just reskins (shout out to the DigDug and Galaga easter egg enemies though!)
Maps have way too many branching paths and you are left with path confusion (which way do I go). Exploration and revealing the map are annoying, you really need to hug every wall to ensure you are revealing every inch of the map. You need to use map markers to remind you "hey, I need to come back here" because there's no clear indicator that you have an unexplored area. Did you walk up to a dead end wall and turn back or were you unable to progress further because you lack the movement ability to do so? Nobody knows!
"Mazes" are basically glorified Pac Man stages with a "boss" battle at the end. They aren't necessary to beat and while I found them easy to beat, I can absolutely understand the frustration trying to complete them. Even after the update to fix Maze/PUCK controls, I still found jumps aggravating to maneuver.
The story is interesting and the level design and visuals are really nice, this is definitely a labor of love. I beat it in just under 30 hours, missing just a single achievement (unlock all perks, which requires a LOT of material grinding to craft the perks). Most of that time spent was hopping between travel points and running along walls, trying to find an area I haven't gone through because I had no idea where to go next.
I did enjoy Shadow Labyrinth, but nothing about it stood out enough to recommend it.
"Blade Chimera" and "Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo", on the other hand, are two of the best Metroidvania's to release last year. I cannot recommend them enough!

Would you recommend if it was cheaper or if someone was a huge Pac-Man fan?

If you've played Metroidvania's before, you know how important map exploration is. When it's poorly implemented, the experience isn't fun anymore.
Imagine opening the map, zooming into an area, and manually searching every single nook and cranny just to find an area with an unexplored ceiling. Well, now you have a double jump, so you can explore that area now. You teleport to the nearest warp point and walk the rest of the way. Turns out, the room just had a slightly higher ceiling and it wasn't revealed when you walked through the room. You have to deliberately jump to reach the ceiling in a room so that the ceiling is drawn on your map. Heck, you might have even seen the ceiling the first time walking through that room, but a single jump wasn't high enough to "reveal" it on the map. Exploring the map in a Metroidvania is supposed to be fun. With Shadow Labyrinth, it's not.
There's a reason why the reviews are still heavily mixed on Steam. There's still improvements that need to be made and in it's current state, it's not an experience I would recommend to fans of the genre.
