Highly recommend this if you plan on transferring photos from your camera to your phone on the go. Transfer speed is very fast and meets speeds for most SD cards on the market. This goes everywhere my mirrorless camera goes.

I am an Android user. But like most people I don't have a phone with qi2. I tried buying cases online that claim to have magnetic capacity but they seem so weak. I feel like I'm kind of left out of this whole mad safe trend. I know I could buy accessories that are compatible but between cases or stick on items for my phones, and then the actual things to stick them to.... But I do want to start experimenting more with it so I can get Mr Mobile's clicks communicator thing.
So, I have an iPhone 13 and even though it came with a USB c to lightning charging cable the actual port on the phone is usb c and I've used regular usb c cables to charge it. So, I'm going to give this a try.

I have both an iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. It works on both of my phones but ever so slightly better on iPhone. It has two slots (TF and SD), on iPhone, it will be recognized as two USB storages so you can access two cards at one time.
On S25 Ultra, it requires some work to make it work. Needs to enable Developer option to make default USB connection to storage. After that, it will only recognize one USB drive, if both cards are inserted, it will prioritize the TF card.
Highly recommend this if you plan on transferring photos from your camera to your phone on the go. Transfer speed is very fast and meets speeds for most SD cards on the market. This goes everywhere my mirrorless camera goes.
My need is to transfer videos out of iphone to free up space. Will this enable that?

Yes, you just go to your Photos app, select the videos, tap the share icon, and you should see "Export Unmodified Original". Then you can click the storage device.

If you have a modern mirrorless camera, it likely has a feature making the camera appear as a mass storage device to connect to your phone using a USB-C cable. It's what I do with my Sony mirrorless on the go. No need to keep swapping in/out the SD card. It even has a wireless transfer option using the Sony phone app, but not as fast.
Any SD memory card reader will act just as this Anker one. So, not sure what the special interest of this one is other than it's selling for less than their usual price on Amazon.
With that said, if you just want to use this reader to off-load media from your phone, you can just use a regular USB-C memory stick.
