$124.xx full synthetic - $25 + tax. Local auto service shop charge $64.99 + tax. Learned my lesson last year. Call and ask retail price before you go. It's not a good deal for me in my area.

It's insane how none of these chains put standard pricing information online in advance.
I had to figure out from google reviews how much things cost.
In contrast, atleast my dealership coupons tell me the cost beforehand.

there are service specials everywhere $45+ car wash. Why even waste time and effort on non-existent profit and time saving?
No way $45 is getting you full synthetic and an OEM filter. My diy cost is $26-29 with high quality full synthetic and a Toyota filter and the knowledge that it was done correctly...

It depends. I tried it a few times before. But I couldn't get the drain plug loose because I don't have the right tool to do it. I couldn't get the oil filter to loose either. Secondly, the space under the car is very tight with one jack. It became a safety issue if I try to loose the plug or filter too hard. It's not hard but it's not for everyone and it's not for every single car model either.
A pair of $30-50 ramps solves that issue and saves time. The right size socket plus a mallet will get the drain plug off especially if you took it to one of these dumb shops that over torques everything. Depending on the car there are specific filter wrenches that fit perfectly. The Motivx ones are the nicest and work great, mine was $25. There are cheaper Chinese slop versions that don't work as well.
Guaranteed there is a youtube diy for whatever vehicle you drive and it will have the sizes for the socket and filter wrench and any other tips you may need. The first time may take you an hour but after you get the hang of it 20 minutes.

You encountered these problems because the shop that worked on your car did a lousy job. A $10 breaker bar will fix the drain plug. Drive a screw driver thru the oil filter to remove it.
Hand tighten the oil filter and apply oil to the gasket to avoid future problem. Jack up one side and use a jack stand to avoid injury.

Apartment dweller can drain the oil by the curb. Put a large piece of cardboard or trash bag under the car to catch oil splatter.

People still use these oil change spots? Stopped using the chains like 15 years ago, just go to your local mechanic or dealership (with coupons).
I get it, but I'm doing it intentionally, but only the locations I know report to Carfax. I drive 2024 Acura TLX Type S, and I genuinely believe it's a car that's going to hold value better than average, especially with it being very rare trim now. Having every service item documented in one place usually strengthens resale.

$25 off $135 for full synthetic Valvoline oil change for my small Hyundai is a stupid deal for me. NOT SD.

Just get good quality oil and filter from wally and take it to a local shop. Invest in your local small business and save some bucks
Thank me later and rep me

Again, it depends. I don't have the space to store a pair of ramps. I wish I can do oil change myself but it's just too much for me and for many others. If we all can do car oil change ourselves, there will be no market for any of oil change service. I don't disagree with you that it can be done easily but it's just not for me and thousands of others. I am happily paying someone to do it for a reasonable price. I don't want to put my life at risk to save $40 every 6 months. I am pretty sure you have the skill, knowledge, and know how to do your own oil change. You also need to take the used oil to a local auto parts story that accepts used oil. All adds up.

It will be 30 minutes to do the oil change (the the ramps set up, get the car up, prepare the ground and put a drain pan, loose the drain plug, drain the oil, remove the drain pan, replace the oil filter, get the car off, clean up the ground, restore the ramps, put the used oil in the jug.). Maybe 10-15 minutes to get the new oil + filter, and 10-15 minutes to recycle the used oil. So for me, 5 minutes drive to a local auto service shop, 1 hour service time, 5 minutes drive back. I trust the work performed by this local auto service shop. I have been there for many years.

I stopped using this place years ago becuase they lie and try to sell yiou things you don't need. I needed 4 new tires mounted and an oil change. I went to Walmart and they mounted the tires but said it would take 2 hours for the oil change. So I decided to instead go to the Valvoline a half mile down the road. I come in and tell the guy I want an oil change. He looks at the car and says your tires need to be rotated. I looked at the guy and said I just had brand new tires put on 10 minutes ago, how could they neeed to be rotated? He just looks at me and says, I guess I must be mistaken.

Really? A company which made 1.7 Billion last year and manages to update their coupons regularly cannot manage to update an excel sheet of pricing per service per location?

It's willful on their part for sure.
definitely, get you in the drive through line and surprise you with sticker shock but now your "trapped" and would have to cause a scene to get out lol.

Instant oil changes = drain super hot oil and pour back room temperature oil!
And don't really way for all the oil to drain.

May be the last DIY vehicle task that is still doable for most people.
The real slick deal is doing it yourself.

5 qts of Walmart brand full synthetic oil is less that $20.
Walmart house brand oil filters can be less than $5.

Name brand oil and filters show up on this website regularly so you can buy in advance.

Easily save yourself ~$50 for a job that takes 30 to 60 minutes, including clean up.

Best part, you don't have to trust your $30,000+ vehicle to somebody who's unable to get a job that's better than getting under a dripping, freezing, or burning hot car all day.

How in the world is this a slick deal? All you have to do is wait for Valvoline or one of those other companies to do rebates on a tub of synthetic oil to get it for around 20 to 25. Or you can get the same price at costco. Then just take it to a pep boys and pay about $30 for them to do the oil change and tire rotation when you bring in your own oil.
