Funny how all the game key card games are going on sale lately. Nintendo knows they messed up by going cheap. They should have made those cards higher capacity. I avoid every game key game relentlessly.

Highly doubt that. They know the majority of people don't like the idea and have boycotted them. They read those Redit and FB comments, especially on their posts. They see the sales numbers on all thier products too.

People buy physical games so they don't have to download the game. Game key cards still make you download the full game AND require the cartridge to be inserted.

Okay, I got'cha. I noticed that on my PS5 as well. I have the game disc, but still have to download the game in full.

Nintendo Switch key cards are basically just cartridges that don't have the game/software on them. It is basically a license and you have to download the full game from the internet. A lot of people have issues with them because they don't actually have the game on the card (could be for a number of reasons, such as the size of the game) so you have to download the full game to local storage AND have the key card in your Switch to play the game.

It also runs the risk that if the game every was delisted by Nintendo, then you potentially couldn't' even download the game (even though you have a 'cartridge').

However, one thing to point out is that the key cards as considered 'physical' so you could trade it in somewhere like GameStop (as far as I'm aware).
I'm sure there might be more, but this is what I've seen a lot of people post about related to the key cards.

It's basically the new "code in a box". The main difference is you can sell a "key card" once you're done playing it, as opposed to a code being permanently associated to a Nintendo account. The problem with "key card" games is you must still download the entire game to internal memory, which requires an active internet connection. So if you want to play a "key card" game while on a plane, then you better download it before boarding. Furthermore, Nintendo can cancel access to "key card" games at any time, which happens from time to time. Nintendo's license agreements with game publishing companies can (and do) expire, and those games subsequently get "de-listed" on the Nintendo eStore. Games that are entirely contained on physical cartridges will never be affected that way. Licenses may expire, but you can still play those games if they are located on a physical cartridge, rather than some server.

I agree but for more lightweight titles this could be offset by availability of new smaller cartridges. Right now Switch 2 carts are only available on 32GB and 64GB capacities. Perhaps we will see 16GB in the future. Switch 1 cartridges were offered as small as 1GB.

Switch 2 carts are only 64 gb. This is one of the reasons there are so many key cards. Seriously key cards are fine.
