How do these compare to the Sony buds? Thinking of getting these anyway since the deal is here and good but I'm asking just in case

You're probably not going to find a lot of people that own both, for a comparison, but I do own the Bose QC Ultras, and I can say that the ANC is worlds better than anything else I've ever used (in an earbud at least). I will also say that one of the big benefits of buying Bose refurbs vs Sony refurbs, is that most of the Sony refurbs come from Secondipity and are not the virtually brand new condition you will get from a Bose refurbished.

I've not tried the Bose buds and I like Sony (I have the XM4 and XM5). Bought both as refurbs from Secondipity via eBay with their 2-year included warranty. I paid around $110. Some Sony owners have had battery problems but mine are fine. Here's a comparison.

I bought the original Bose QC buds on a similar refurb deal two years ago. They were like new. I love them, still going strong. Are the Ultras that much better?

I haven't tried gen 1, but gen 2 ANC was WORLDS better than my XM5s. I take 2-4 flights per month for work and I couldn't hear engines at all in Gen 2s, but hear the constant buzz with XM5s. Actually considering picking up a pair, if only I didn't have 5 other buds already ...

No, cherish those OG QC buds while you have em. I accidentally put mine thru the wash and killed mine. The ultras do this thing all the time where it like, pops into mono for a second, is the best way I can describe it, then it goes back to normal. The older ones with the flat case were so, so much more reliable, and no real perceivable improvement in ANC or battery (or comfort, for that matter). If you don't have any ANC buds these are decent, but if you're coming from the OG's you'll be disappointed.

I'm still rocking my Bose QC II's and love them. Waiting to see what comes out after the Ultra 2nd Gen.

just to add on, since laptop bluetooth can bit hit and miss, I bought the Bose USB BT dongle to go with it. Also recommended (cheaper) is the Avantree DG80 (USB-A) or the C81 (USB-C)

This is an awsome earbuds. I've been using it with my S25 ultra and iPhone 17 ultra. The sound quality and NC are much much better than my Airpods Pro 2. However, you'll have to play around to find the right fitting.

I have the QCII's from that Verizon price mistake a few years ago and love them.

I did have an issue with them coming a bit loose in the ear after walking a distance (I wear them walking around the city). There is a guy on ebay who sells rubber wings for the QCII's and the medium size was perfect for me. They don't budge at all now. I am not sure if they work on the other Bose models

This is an insane deal even for old pair. One of the most comfy; insanely good anc and sound quality earbuds I've bought.

I have the older QC earbuds and the Sony WM4. Bose is better for ANC but goes for a very clean, neutral sound profile. WM4 isn't as good for ANC but has a warmer sound profile. Most people who aren't hardcore audiophiles tend to like the sound of the XM4 better.

I also have more problems with XM4 fit - they fall out of my ears sometimes. But that's gonna be a real ymmv from person to person. and probably not relevant with the XM5 out now.
