As I recall, sugar and salt are the top 2 ingredients in these. Not that it's totally bad to do so. But salt and sugar are the two cheapest ingredients in a bbq rub. Consequently, they're abused to create higher profits. If you see rubs with something else at the top of the list, it contains more spices and is probably a better product. It really depends on if you want quantity or quality.

I got the Cherry Cola one a few years ago, I actually really liked it BUT it's best on ribs or pork items IMHO. I would discourage using it as seasoning or in an uncooked scenario...the flavor kind of changes as it cooks in. The same is true as a coffee rub kind of mixture. Anyway for what it's worth...I enjoyed that one and I've wanted to try other flavors too.

WhoTF wants their meat to taste like cherry cola, chika lika or sweet preacher? JFC! stop doing acid when you pick your business names.

I bought a standalone "mild & sweet" rub from this brand and the first ingredient was sugar. It's in big chunks and not ground finely enough to soak into the meat. When you eat meat cooked with it, the sugar crunches and it's not pleasant.

As an avid BBQ nerd (I've done some comps and cook for the family A LOT) I like these. This is a good deal. I make my own rubs at times and those are more economical in bulk of course but I use commercial blends all the time too for convenience.

Seems like every Tom, Dick and Jane has their own secret rub. Spoiler it's how they charge 10x for salt and sugar.

For anyone who likes dry brining meat, rubs like this are great to mix in with your kosher salt to add a little bit of extra flavor.
