Been wanting to get something like this when I cook hight heat on a Traeger for some extra smoke. Anybody know if this will work? Never used one

Only work well if you get close to the heat source, like on the flavorizer bars, which might not allow the grate to fit above It. Foil packet with holes poked in the top does just as well.

Get some decent smoke tubes instead, total game changer for a pellet smoker.

Agree, but I use this on my 2009 era Weber genesis and it fits perfectly between the grates and flavor bars. Only PIA is having to move the grate to refill it.

where in the pellet smoker do you put it? and when? pellets are easy but not as smokey as I'd like.

I put mine right in the middle over the fire pot. I bought a Bernzomatic TS8000 propane torch to get them lit and it's so easy now. They'll burn (smolder) for 4-5 hours at least and work great. I got these and the build quality is shockingly good for the price.https://a.co/d/06ukf60O
