One of the first things you should do is run the Windows command line to do the battery report. If it fails or is really low you can send the report to support and they most likely will give you a rebate/credit to your card to replace it yourself as they don't have spare batteries lying around. At least that is what I did 4 years ago. Ended up buying a larger battery.

For any used SSD run CrystalDiskInfo (available on Windows store for free) which will show you health/duty of the SSD.

Open Command Prompt/PowerShell:
Search for "Command Prompt" or "PowerShell" in the Start Menu.
Right-click the result and select "Run as administrator".
Run the Command:
Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.

(Optional) To save it to a specific location, use: powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\your_folder\battery_report.html".

Find the Report:
The command will tell you the exact path where the report is saved (e.g., C:\Windows\system32\battery-report.html).
Navigate to that folder in File Explorer.

View the Report:
Double-click the battery-report.html file to open it in your default web browser for detailed information on battery capacity, usage, and health.

Considering the current cost of RAM, probably better off purchasing a higher memory machine now rather than upgrading it after purchase. I'd recommend 16GB at the very minimum.

One thing's for sure... Whenever deals involve dell rewards points (not saying this deal is about that), it's a joke because there's nothing to use them on. I have 5 days left to sue my $87 rewards points and nothing to get because of their lame selection on routers and never on sale games.

Those smaller ones go on sale a lot. More often than the 15.6" ones. I'm the opposite looking for 15.6" for work.

Their current coupon code is:

45% Off Any Item $499 or Higher | 35% Off Any Item $498 or Less

Use Coupon Code: NEWYEAR2026

I've always found things to use my Dell Rewards points on.

Monitors, portable hard drives, Bluetooth speakers, etc.

This is Dellrefurbished, not regular Dell. They're almost completely different companies. I don't believe reward points can be earned nor applied.

I doubt acquiring laptop DDR4 is going to be a problem. It's the latest DDR5, DDR7, and HBM that are going into AI systems. you

Not working for me. I tried NEWYEAR2026 and AF5520E, both shows - "Our apologies, your order does not meet the requirements of the Promo Code". Trying to buy Dell Latitude 9430

I've had good luck so far with Dell refurbished. I had an issue with a couple of them, they were quick to replace. I think you can buy with confidence.

You could have just searched for current DDR4 prices because they've spiked too. It's no longer in production and people are opting to upgrade older DDR4 systems instead of moving to DDR5.

It comes straight from their coupon page:

https://dellrefurbished.com/coupons

It can't be used for hot deals and warranties....
