We have both the Anker (2 of the USBS A to C), and the UGreen set of 4. Transfer speeds are the same for both brands. The Anker adapters are WAY over priced.

Can these be used for charging and turn usb-a cable equivalent to usb-c cable, or will all the special usb-c charging stuff like PD not work on usb-a cables?

Curious do you have something plugged in that takes advantage of usb 3 speeds? Like a m.2 drive with usb 3 connection?

USB PD 3.0 and PPS require pins that's aren't present in USB-A, so you'll definitely miss out on some charging speed.

Virtually the same thing is $1.25 for the two and thus $2.50 for the four as listed here at Dollar Tree!

USB-C is just a physical plug format. To get the extra features with USB 3/PD/etc you'll need a specialty cable made for that.

If the cable, plug, and device (all 3) aren't made for it, it'll just work as a regular USB 2.0 connection.

They're not, they're USB 2. Not 'virtually the same'.

Having said that, those will work for 90% of people. They're likely using them with USB-C 2.0 cables anyway.

Agree. I used an USB cable tester on 100 USB cables that have accumulated over the years and found the USB standard and Power Delivery rating for each one. Not a single cable was rated higher than USB 2. Cannot use USB 3 if the cable does not support it.
