This is a great deal. Stores often sell over engineered versions of this for $300+

How does this compare to Gladiator brand? Obviously it won't be as heavy duty, but is this going to be a flimsy POS that I'm going to worry about collapsing on me?

Why overengineered? Seems like 250lbs for a 4'x3.5' space could easily be maxed out.

Fully agree. 250lbs seems pretty light for garage storage items and would hate to see it coming crashing down onto a car or other things

So buy multiple? I guess it depends how much stuff you can put away long-term vs needing it to be more accessible. For me personally, I use most of what I store, so I don't necessarily want a lot of stuff at ladder height.

Bought this one a couple years ago and currently has six boxed Christmas trees on it. Wouldn't go any more as it's only a single bolt into the ceiling at each corner. Picked up a Lowes one this year which has a long angle iron that bolts into two rafters and feel more comfortable putting more weight on it. For this price though, in for two.

Maybe some folks don't need something that strong and fits their needs? I have one and use it for lighter stuff. Built my own for heavy duty use way cheaper than the manufactured products.

I can't speak to the Gladiator brand, but I bought one and it was a bit of a pain to install. I only use it for lighter stuff and served my needs.
