This AVAPOW jump starter stands out as a low-cost emergency battery pack for gas engines up to 8 liters and most light-duty diesels. The 3000 amp rating and 23,800 milliamp hour capacity make it a strong value at this price, especially for basic roadside peace of mind. It also seems to hold charge well and has worked reliably for vehicle, boat, and ATV starts. The main caveats are inconsistent case inclusion, no digital battery display, and no air compressor function or adapter. A practical pick if you want compact jump-start backup without paying for the larger model.
drivers who mainly need "piece of mind" and will keep it ready for occasional use because commenters say it holds charge "amazingly well" and they've kept it on the shelf without problems.
owners who want a low-cost emergency jump starter for consumer gas engines and light-duty diesels because the 3000A unit can jump-start almost any consumer gas engine (up to 8.0L) and most light-duty diesels.
campers or people who also want to use the jump starter for charging devices on trips because spending extra on the higher-capacity 6000A makes more sense when you plan to use it to charge devices while camping (the extra capacity becomes useful).
vehicle owners who don't want to deal with jumper cables because one commenter said it's easier and safer than jumper cables and has worked amazingly well for their vehicles/boats/ATVs.
buyers who need a guaranteed included accessory kit because multiple commenters reported receiving the unit without a case (and case inclusion appears to vary by shipment).
EV owners trying to start a dead 12V battery because one commenter noted there's no boost/override button and they're unsure it would work to start an EV with a dead 12V battery.
people who want an all-in-one emergency tool with an air compressor because this model is jump-starter-only and does not include an air compressor adapter/functionality.
drivers in extreme cold who are counting on maximum cranking performance because one commenter warned that in temps below -10°C (14°F) a 3000A unit might struggle to jump a large V8 engine in extreme cold conditions.
It can arrive with a case, but some units have been received without one. The packaging appears inconsistent, so if the case matters, check the listing carefully or be prepared to return it if missing.
It can sit unused for up to a year, and some units hold charge well for much longer. For best longevity, keep it away from extreme heat, avoid storing it fully charged, and top it back up every few months if you want maximum starting performance.
The 6000A model has about 34% more battery capacity (32,000mAh vs 23,800mAh) but costs about twice as much. The 3000A version is enough for most consumer gas engines up to 8.0L and most light-duty diesels, while the 6000A makes more sense for camping device charging, heavy-duty trucks, or very cold climates.
This model is jump-starter only and does not include an air compressor adapter or compressor function. It also lacks a boost or override button on the cable assembly, which may matter if you want to start an EV with a dead 12V battery.
Must hVe for everyone w questionable vehicles boats atv etc. this has helped me out quite a few times and it worked amazingly well every time. Easier and safer than jumper cables. Must have !
I'm fairly certain it DOES come with a case, even though it's not listed in the product description. There are several reviews that mention a case and a picture of this product on Avapow' website shows a case. I'm going to buy it and simply return it if it doesn't have a case, but I can't imagine they wouldn't include a protective case.
I agree. In terms of "Amps per dollar" they are equal in value, but the 3000A offers better "Capacity per dollar". In short, the 6000A offers 34% more battery capacity (32k vs 23.8k mAh) but costs 100% more.
The 3000A unit can jump-start almost any consumer gas engine (up to 8.0L) and most light-duty diesels. Spending an extra $25 on the 6000A makes more sense if you plan on using it to charge devices when camping, in which case the extra 8,200mAh of capacity becomes useful. Or, if you own a heavy-duty truck (e.g., F350), or live in a very cold climate. In temps below -10°C (14°F), the effective power drops, so a 3000A unit might struggle to jump a large V8 engine in extreme cold conditions, whereas, the power overhead you get with the 6000A ensures it can still deliver about 600–800 cranking amps even when the internal lithium cells are freezing.
Nice ad.
A lot of these amp ratings are meaningless and pulled straight out of their ass. There's no official standard and certification for these numbers so they all try to one up each other. I only trust actual testing from someone like Project Farm.
Notice how they rarely put CCA rating because that actually means something.
This is a small complaint but I wish this had a digital display to show the battery power level instead of just the four LED hash marks. I ordered one anyway. Thanks to the OP for the posting.
Lucky. Mine did not come with a case. It also does not have a boost/override type button on the cable assembly, so I'm wondering if it will work to start an EV if the 12v battery is dead. From what I've read some sort of manual override is usually necessary.

Mine was also just delivered and without a case included.
Honestly... that's not a big deal, but something I overlooked initially is that this is a jump starter only and does NOT include an air compressor adapter/functionality. I purchased a different model/brand in late 2025 which has both together and when I saw this deal jumped on it, not realizing this. I do find the convenience of both jump start and emergency air compressor combined to be much more practical.
For reference... I purchased a similarly spec'd NEXPOW for about $35 which included both a case and the air compressor adapter. Debating returning and holding out for a deal which includes both...

I believe the main reason they use Peak Amps instead of CCA for these lithium ion jump starters is because of how they deliver power differently than traditional lead-acid car batteries. A CCA test is a brutal 30-second endurance run at 0°F. If you tried that with a lithium-ion jump starter, the safety sensors would probably kick in and shut it down to prevent overheating. Instead, these units are rated for Peak Amps, which is that massive 1–3 second "initial punch" needed to get a dead engine turning. I suppose there's also a marketing factor (3000A sounds much more impressive than a 400–600 CCA equivalent)! :-) Regardless, 3000 Amps is roughly 4 to 6 times the initial punch of a standard car battery, which is why this unit can start most engines.
So if you intend to only use it for emergencies and care about longevity, I guess charge it to 3 out of 4 indicator lights and then just try to keep it out of extreme heat? Maybe use it to charge some phones every 3 months or so?
Keep going back and forth on getting this. Can't seem to find it on Amazon to check reviews there. Not sure if it's an old discontinued model or what. Amazon does have the GooLoo on sale for about $60, so twice the price. Not sure if it's worth it for a potentially better product that I'd need in an emergency.
