Moto G Power 5G (2023) is the better choice if both phones cost the same. It is faster, has a sharper and smoother display, supports 5G, and going by tracfone's website, might come with 128GB storage (YMMV), so it will feel snappier now and age better with heavier apps and games.
Storage aside, AFAIK these are some additional advantages of Moto G Power 5G (2023) one Moto G Play 4G (2024):
- Much faster Dimensity 930 chip compared to the Snapdragon 680 in the Moto g Play 2024, so performance and responsiveness are noticeably better.
- Higher-resolution 1080p display with 120 Hz refresh rate, while the Moto g Play 2024 has a 720p display at 90 Hz, so text and video look sharper and scrolling is smoother on the G Power.
- 5G connectivity versus 4G-only on the Moto g Play 2024, which is better.

Does Tracfone let you easily unlock the phone after 90 or 180 days or whatever?
I posted this elsewhere as well, but after 60 days, connect the phone to internet via WiFi and insert a different SIM card and the phone will unlock automatically.

I thought tracfone requires 60 days of paid service, which the prepaid service doesn't count towards?
Why would anyone buy a 2023 Motorola G power cell phone when security updates will end in April of 26. 4 months from now? It's not very smart to walk around using a phone that's not getting security updates going forward.
I think it's a good phone. The Dimensity 930 on 2023 version is the same as Dimensity 7020 on 2024 version, MediaTek just renamed it. But 2023 version only have 4GB of RAM, which is a downgrade.

buying 1 year of time on tracfone is $50 alone. you get a free well reviewed phone and the time, texts, and data too. this is an excellent deal. i figured some would see the constant past $50 price and ask.
I noticed my number needed to be renewed and my spare phone would be better used on a number port for my parents to get them onto a smart phone, so I bought myself this deal. It says it will be here tomorrow!
Idk if its worth mentioning or not, but Motorola has a $100 to $200 trade in bonus for both this phone and the 2024 Moto G Play right now if you use it to buy their 2024 or 2025 edge phone, respectively. Could farm the 1 year service to an existing tracfone account and turn around for a $200 discount towards their new 2025 edge.

I bought one of these phones and had constant problems with wi-fi. It would drop a connection. Some sites would never appear in the wi-fi list. I spent hours on internet trying to solve the problem. Many others reported such problems. After about a month I gave up and bought a Samsung phone.

Which edge gets poor reviews for the camera, 2024 or 2025? Either way, I don't think you're gonna find a new unlocked phone with a better camera than a 2024 edge for $180 ($299 - $120 trade in).
Also unless I'm missing something, you're the only one who brought up the 2025 Power, idk how thats relevant here. Unless someone can get the 2025 Power for $50 it doesn't really matter if it's better.
