Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

So the consensus is to hold off buying these since VZ can change the unlock requirements on April 1 and require more service time to unlock? Or to buy and activate ASAP to make the 60 days before April 1 hits?

Old policy was changed April 1st 2025, you're a little late.
The April unlock policy is now changing - we're just waiting for them to post it on their website to find out when/what they're changing, no one knows what the new requirements are right now.

My order keeps getting cancelled. I placed 2 different orders with different email and both got cancelled. I am buying from ST for the first time. Someone facing similar issues?

Just ordered two myself today. Probably too late for unlocking. I got charged 80 (some kind of taxes were added to the service) but Amex are supposed to have a 20 back. So not too bad for 30 a piece emulation device with old screen, since I already own a few mobile controllers.

Yes, I faced the same issue twice on Monday. One order was placed online and 2 more orders through agent via Chat. Agent mentioned the online order issue might be due to CC but my order for subscription renewal with the same card worked fine.

thanks the display on this appears to be insanely bright. Are you able to confirm its really this device?

https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola...-13784.php
Most of the time the display can only get that bright when you are in direct sunlight and in autobrightness mode.

And usually only for a brief period of time and it will dim the display since it will start to overheat.

Very slow phone high plan fees
I have one. It's a solid mid-level phone, not "slow" at all.

I've sometimes had them ship out in 24 hrs but usually it's several days to get it to UPS & then it's 2 day shipping.

two questions:

can i have the phone powered off for 60 days? i don't plan to use it until it's switched over to my plan/phone number, so if it's powered off that would at least preserve the battery a bit.
second, is this model a xt2517-1? i just want to make sure for bootloader unlock/rooting purposes.

Backup/give away/paperweight sounds about right.
I got a Moto edge+2022 on a deal here and the battery is starting to not last longer than a day with low use. The front camera won't work anymore. Im very tech savvy and still the same issues despite multiple tries at fixing them.

It's still snappy and works perfectly other than that. And this seems like a great replacement phone for it.
Had that same phone, sold it a month ago for $100, it worked perfectly.

Need to move an older relative's landline number (ATT) to a cellphone. Unsure of the steps necessary to get this accomplished, but wanted to ask if y'all think Straightalk would be a better company to do this with (eg, less hassle, smoother transition) than say, Tracfone, Verizon, etc. If too OT, please PM. Thanks so much!!
Buy a inexpensive phone and use Infimobile. 1 year plan about $99.

Are you SURE about that???
I dont believe that. I've had phone since Mar or Apr 2025 that i only paid 1 month and it is still locked. I bought it shortly before they started that 60 day activation requirement. Now they are demanding I buy a second 30 day plan. Phone just sitting in drawer
