Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

Holy S....I just activated my two phones yesterday, which was Jan 19. So I guess I am safe since "on or before Jan 19" as it states?

Wow! Yeah, you should be good to go. As long your phone activation were done on or before the cutoff date, so you shouldn't have any issues with unlocking.

Need to move an older relative's landline number (ATT) to a cellphone. Unsure of the steps necessary to get this accomplished, but wanted to ask if y'all think Straightalk would be a better company to do this with (eg, less hassle, smoother transition) than say, Tracfone, Verizon, etc. If too OT, please PM. Thanks so much!!
It has been law since 2004 that numbers in US are portable to any carrier.
You would need the account info.
Name on account, account number and sometimes a security pin number. You can call to ask for this. On old accounts like the pin could be the last for of the SSN from when it was setup.

Yea you can do so online. But unless you did it yesterday seems late now. At least for the 60day option
