Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

Can you activate the one month on a current plan instead of this phone?

You can sell them on Ebay: phone+1 month service
How does the 1 month service work it's tied to the phone correct? I didn't see any cards for a month of service in the box.

I just swapped the sim card into a Samsung phone and tried USB tethering and it works fine, so its not my carrier. Im reluctant to do a factory reset since it took so long to get the Moto configured the way I like it, but that might be the next step. Yeah, PdaNet+ has always been unstable. And no effort was ever made to correct it.
Is anyone else not able to use USB tethering with their new Stylus?
I've tried a factory reset but the issue persists. The phone is running Android 15 while my older phone with Android 14 still has USB tethering working correctly. It seems like the problem might be related to the Android 15 update.

I tried the .apk file I found on Reddit [reddit.com] but it didn't seem to install or function correctly on my phone. It's possible there's an incompatibility issue or the file itself might be outdated.

That thread mentions deleting the hotspot APN and rebooting. Give that a try.

If you already got this phone and want to get it unlocked then cheapest option I know of is to change it to Tracfone and use their $99 plan for a year. Use CC offers to get it cheaper. Probably not worth. If you can wait for a year for unlocking then QVC sells 2 Pack Tracfone Moto G Power 2024 5G phones for $90 or less for new customer. There are some deals at Metro as well. For unlocked phone, BB sells Moto G Power 2024 5G for $105 with visible plan. Check the post to see how to get it cheaper.
Unfortunately there is NO cheapest place AFAIK!

Even the Tracfone $99 plan will not work because the plan is for flip phones ONLY and does not apply for smartphones. Atleast as of today that's what I can see from the plan page under the price tag.

I don't know regardless of such mention if we still buy it to keep just the SIM active for 365days will make it eligible for unlocking?

I bought the phone on the 14th. They didn't ship for 5 days or so and it got activated yesterday (the 23rd). When I bought it the unlock was 60 days and I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I have no reason to buy any further service so it looks like they gave me a free Moto g stylus 5g for one month of a $30 service.

Thanks for the update. That .apk mentioned in the reddit is for the 2024 Moto G Stylus on Android 15, so not sure if they are the same for our 2025 model. My hotspot works fine. Its the USB tether that stopped working after the updates. Please let me know of you find a solution.

Thanks. I saw that, but unfortunately I only show one APN and it is greyed out (Im using Visible sim). I cant delete, edit or create a new APN. The only option is to reset it to default, which I have done. Looks like the .apk file mentioned on reddit was for the 2024 Stylus. Im not sure if it cover the 2025 or not, but it didnt work for Senor-O-Brien.

flip phone plans can be used on smart phones there is no difference. order from a 3rd party source amazon, ebay, or in-store if tracfone website hides purchase option.

APN settings are greyed out for me as well. I'm certain it's not a Visible issue as USB tethering fails with my Straight Talk SIM too. The problems seem directly linked to the Android 15 update.

I recall experiencing the exact same issue with my previous Moto G Stylus (2023) where USB tethering stopped working after an early Android 13 or 14 update. I had to resort to using another phone until Motorola eventually addressed the problem within a few months. Based on my experience, broken USB tethering seems to be a recurring issue with Motorola phones. shake head

Just posted about these issues on the Motorola subreddit [reddit.com] and hoping they will be brought to their attention to get them fixed.

Seems like the imei unlock services can't find codes to unlock this device on straight talk, just tried.

No, I think I activated my phone via the Straight Talk website around 12:15 AM.

After receiving my phone today, I discovered it works perfectly with Visible, eliminating the need to unlock it and saving me a second month's plan fee. I'm so happy with it that I bought a second one for $30. $75 for two 2025 Stylus phones is a steal in my opinion. The OLED screen is very nice and the performance is good, with no lag.

Check IMEI on Visible the phone works locked tested it Free Trial. They sell the same XT2517V model. Visible Service for $19 month unlimited tax included.

I can also confirm that these locked phones work on an existing Visible account. I popped the sim from my Pixel phone running Visible into the Stylus 2025 and phone calls, texting, and data worked right away.

Use it on Visible, *possibly* other Verizon MVNOs (unconfirmed).
