They also don't cover tax, so the real unreimbursed cost is the tax. I see this as you're spending real money to buy points ('store credit' that can expire) and getting the product for the cost of the tax. If you were going to shop at Staples anyway for products not on a points promo, then this is a good deal. But points don't roll (ie you can't use points for a promo that earns you points) so it's easy to amass a large # of points with all these 'free after points' promos, and not use them. I'm personally sitting on a large trove of points from past promo deals (luggage, batteries, crayola, storage, etc), and my local Staples is closing 😞.

I bought post it crap for the office on my rewards account, the office reimburses me for 100% of my oop, I keep 100% of the rewards back. Cha ching!

I have not, delivered today. Still says pending in my account, should show up tomorrow. Usually points are pretty instant.

This is a weird take. They are giving you $40 in points for spending $40 on post-it products. Yes, you have to spend $40 but in a few days you can use the points to buy something worth $40. That's not 50% off.

I agree it is not 50% off, but it is also not 100% off. The exact percent off will depend what you buy with the $40 and how much cheaper you could have got it elsewhere. So lets assume Staples stuff is overpriced by 15%. Then you will get 100 - 15% or 85% back.
